KING OF THE INTERNETS

For the fist time ever whilst running Windows XP, I have just had the Blue Screen of Death, twice. I was very scared. Just playing WoW, minding my own business and WHAM! My sound gets stuck in a loop, everything freezes, and it appears.
Someone hold me. |

I thought that BSoDs were disabled in Windows XP?
http://www.computerhope.com/jargon/b/bsod.htm Yup, they are it seems.

How about UNIX? Since Linux and Mac are both UNIX based.
I had the blue screen of death on Winblows XP before. Several times, actually. But it was a different kind of blue screen because it was lighter in color, and it didn't look quite like DOS. |

ME are ****.
And I've had a BSOD on rare occasions in XP. By default, XP automatically reboots when it receives a critical error of sorts, i.e. a problem with memory or something. But you can disable that, and me being the 1337 dude who can always pretend to know what the **** those hexidecimal error codes mean, I did. So instead of random reboots, I get a nice BSOD. Vista has RSODs, actually. But only in the criticallest of critical errors, i.e. when it detects a user using it. |

Actually, Windows 2000 can run on pretty much everything, I recommend it for the older computers. 300 mhz and above can run it without too much trouble, and it'll run XP apps and everything without much problems. And without the extra system requirements XP needs.
Then again, XP can run on a 1 MHz computer. They underclocked a processor to 1 MHz a while ago, took half an hour just to start up, but it worked . |

Try setting up a Windows 2003. Pretty stable stuff.
Oh, and by the way, I don't think you can actually compare Windows XP with Linux when it comes to stability. I mean, most people who run a Linux box are usually experienced (a little anyhow) and know their machine, whilst most Windows users will just put random settings (like, 90Hz for a vertical refresh time on an hold CRT) and panic afterwards.

Windows 95 is an illusion: it's just DOS with graphics.
Kinda like Linux nowadays, <3. Also, 8 sticks of memory usually don't fit in a computer, unless you have a very old one (saw 6 in one 'o those once) or a server machine. |
