I've had my PS2 since it came out. I had no problem with it until now. I turn it on and it works fine until the browser and config screen goes away and it tries to load the game, then it freezes.
How can I fix this?

I swear, you people must be rich or something. Don't you guys know what its like to be on a tight budget?
CO, more than likely the laser lense needs to be cleaned. Go out to Best Buy or Circuit City and you can probably find a CD that has little brushes on it to clean the lense. I got one myself, and they cost around $5-$10, maybe less, it was a while ago when I got it.

That's what happened to my old one. It only plays silver discs. Blue and black discs get the red screen error. If you still have it you can still make use of it. Exploit station has all kinds of emulators you could put on it, etc.

Pop the top of the console off. It holds down the disc tray then manually push the tray in like you're starting it up. (Be careful because there is the film that has the power/reset button tucked against the side) And you can clean the lense.

Good Job, for answering the question for me buddy. I'll get one when the price goes down. I'm getting a new car, so I'm not rolling in benz if you know what I mean.

Adri, if you've had your PS2 since they came out, then you've probably got one of the PS2's with the ****ty bios on it. If the PS3 wasn't coming out in just over two months, I'd say get a new one, but you obviously see how pointless that'd be.
I'm lucky that a friend of mine knows how to fix PS2s no matter what goes wrong, and he lives just down the road. Personally, though, I'd rather kick the dust-collector of a console into my soon-to-be-replaced TV and see if that does the trick. |
