Default PS2 problem.

I've had my PS2 since it came out. I had no problem with it until now. I turn it on and it works fine until the browser and config screen goes away and it tries to load the game, then it freezes.

How can I fix this?

That would be stupid, considering that I'm saving my money for a PS3.

I'm just not buying them yet, because they're glitchy as all hell.

A new PS2 would be like what? $60? Better than looking at your old one and crying everytime it won't work.

Meh, either it works or it doesn't. I just go out and do something or come on here when it decides to be a hoar.

That 60 bucks is to my PS3. :C

If you get a fat one you can exploit it. The slim ones can't be exploited at all.

Anyway is it happening with a blue or black disc? Any disc other than silver?

I swear, you people must be rich or something. Don't you guys know what its like to be on a tight budget?

CO, more than likely the laser lense needs to be cleaned. Go out to Best Buy or Circuit City and you can probably find a CD that has little brushes on it to clean the lense. I got one myself, and they cost around $5-$10, maybe less, it was a while ago when I got it.

No its was the blue, because its too hard for the old ps2 too prosess the discs, and some wolud not work on my fatty ps2 so it got a small one.

That's what happened to my old one. It only plays silver discs. Blue and black discs get the red screen error. If you still have it you can still make use of it. Exploit station has all kinds of emulators you could put on it, etc.

My PS2 started to get screwy after about 5 years.

I just bought a PS3 instead, much better.

Pop the top of the console off. It holds down the disc tray then manually push the tray in like you're starting it up. (Be careful because there is the film that has the power/reset button tucked against the side) And you can clean the lense.

No, actually it's silver.

Good Job, for answering the question for me buddy.

I'll get one when the price goes down. I'm getting a new car, so I'm not rolling in benz if you know what I mean.

after reading a few of the posts i feel almost lucky my PS2 hasnt given out yet. i bought a fat one used a couple years ago. not only is it used but its been at the bottem of heavy luggage and also been dropped on the ground quite hard a couple times. but it still working.

my cousin's slim PS2 broke about a year after he bought it. wouldnt read games no more and had to buy a new one.

Adri, if you've had your PS2 since they came out, then you've probably got one of the PS2's with the ****ty bios on it. If the PS3 wasn't coming out in just over two months, I'd say get a new one, but you obviously see how pointless that'd be.

I'm lucky that a friend of mine knows how to fix PS2s no matter what goes wrong, and he lives just down the road. Personally, though, I'd rather kick the dust-collector of a console into my soon-to-be-replaced TV and see if that does the trick.

Film yourself breaking it. That'll make it better than ever.
