Just wanted to find out if anyone else had issues with the latest iTunes software updates / iTunes 8.-- updates?
Such as: Skipping like an old record when pages are loading. Skips/song lag when open for a long period of time. Selects pretty much EVERYTHING, refresh doesn't stop the problem - program has to be shut, Desktop refreshed and then the program re-opened. Windows Updates starts downloading updates, then it begins to lag/skip songs. Double-jumps songs when other media programs are open. When other media programs play the same files perfectly fine, after a period of time OR those other media programs are opened when iTunes starts skipping, the OTHER programs begin to pick up the skipping and freezing. I've checked all of my hardware, software - no conflicts whatsoever, I've fiddled with the priorities and have restored everything including all of my Registry Edits and general customizations on my new laptop which is running Vista easily/smoothly. Now, the older laptop runs XP still pretty smoothly considering it's rather old and hasn't had the same issues... until my parents updated iTunes to 8.-- Has anyone else had similar problems with it? It's really pissing me off when I'm browsing in Firefox (which isn't leaking memory on either laptop) and then songs go all choppy and I LIVE on music so it annoys me to no extent. Just want to see if anyone has come up with any fixes as I've gone over everything I can think of and if other people have the same issues with no fixes aside from rebooting every few days when it starts stuffing up media playback across all software... Then it would have to be put down to yet another Apple software screw-up (the only plus-side of this update was the iPod firmware update, meaning it's not randomly freezing or refusing to play songs or randomly corrupting itself during song playback... because those totally aren't a standard programming-based issue *insert eye-roll here*). Basically, post your issues with the new iTunes update and whatever method you've found to solve the issue and how long that issue is "fixed" by said method please. As I've found it to be a waste of time asking on Apple or Microsoft forums in the past on their products, apparently the result of my questions on past issues could be considered "my own fault" for having everything "too up to date" or for fixing problems I've encountered on my past systems, which worked up until they released a new buggy update.

Installed the latest update, still no fix for it.
I have to reboot my laptop just to stop this crap from happening. I know it's not my laptop's fault - it's actually iTunes causing this issue. Not even changing the program's priority works anymore, that was the old fix for the 7th build of the software... and I never had this issue until Build 8 came around. Still no suggestions? ((Tried Apple support, they still swear to god it's my laptop's fault by giving me the same old crap "It's your OS... etc", when I've tested it out on a friend's MAC.... and it does it to the MAC TOO)). It's driving me INSANE. I can't stand songs skipping, makes me want to throw stuff out of sheer annoyance.... listening to Mozart, or Chopping and then it sounds like a badly scratched record and absolutely DESTROYS the flow of the compositions!

As for that, you actually need to open/import the songs using Ctrl + O / Open OR Play. iTunes has issues with click n' drag for importing media files. I would also recommend reading the iTunes help section (from the program itself) or have a look at general trouble-shooting, however as I've mentioned - iTunes sucks with click n' drag importing methods and really can only import via Open OR right-clicking on the file and selecting Play.

Good luck with it, however in future posting more details might be useful (such as OS) otherwise nobody can really help with the issue. I still haven't solved the iTunes issue either, of which this thread was created for.
