Is this like the 15th grade?
All I have to say is that I HATE stupid people with a passion. I am in my fifth semester at university, and each semester I find myself wondering how certain people even got accepted; now that I'm an upper-division under-graduate (Junior) I'm wondering how some made it to the 300 level courses.
During break in my U.S. Foreign Policy class, some chick was trying desperately to talk and flirt with a guy sitting next to me. She was asking him to explain everything the teacher had JUSt said--like because he is saying it (in the same exact way), it'll make sense. Even if it was just her trying to get him to keep talking to her, it was pretty lame. Couldn't she be a little more creative? Then I overhear that she's a history student focusing on America...but she had no idea that the USSR and US were at odds during the Cold War! Isn't hat something you learn at least by high school? Jesus Christ!
I have plenty of stories from my world history class from last year as well, but I'm not sure I want to get into all those. One is great, though: Our teacher was explaining to us (although I already knew) that people in Greece/Italy used to take baths in oil since they had no soap--they'd let it harden and then chip off. One girl raised her hand and said, "but didn't they have a soap plant?"
Or in a government:
Professor: Can anyone tell me what a bureaucracy is?
Girl: Is it a type of government?
"Well, no ****!"
That is all. I feel like it's an extention of high school. It makes me sad. Why are these people in places of higher education?
