[My Final Heaven]

This will act as the signup thread because I won't be here over the weekend but if I get 5 players by monday then we can start it then. If not, well then I did all this work for NOTHING!


The greatest civilization known to man has fallen. A dominion encompassing the entire planet Earth has been split, and the rift that came between the two borders has destroyed everything. The reason for the spilt has long been forgotten, buried in the radioactive desert sands of time for ever, all that is remembered is the result.

Nuclear devastation has gripped the planet, spreading death and pestilence in the form of Gamma radiation. An unlucky few where spared the disaster by hiding deep underground, and it was to them that the task of rebuilding from the ashes of what was once wonderful.
But this plague of invisible death has given life to a new form of existence, a substance, a being know as Remorium. Named by doctor Jillian Harrison who discovered it’s nature as a partially sentient form after the Remora fish, due to Remorium’s tendency towards parasitic behavior. It was discovered quickly that Remorium feeds off gamma radiation, but when it was first discovered, it was thought to be some kind of mutation. That the bombardment of gamma radiation had altered something natural, much like wood can become petrified.

Large quantities of Remorium where used to try and soak up the gamma radiation in the soil for agricultural projects, but the workers who where working with the raw Remorium reported becoming easily fatigued.

Doctor Harrison Discovered that Remorium was not merely just another element that had been created, but that it was in fact sentient, even if it was not alive. She discovered that while it had no means of movement or reproduction, it actually increased in mass as it absorbed radiation. She also discovered that it not only fed off of gamma radiation but off electricity as well, more specifically, biological electricity created by the synaptic functions of living animals and humans. It had no reaction to a normal electrical current, but when exposed to animals, it would feed directly off of their brain activity.

The discovery of sentient behavior was quite accidental, as Remorium will become irate if not properly fed. Ordinary Remorium is crystalline, but it can alter its form to seek out nourishment. However, it does not always react to stimuli in an obviously intuitive manner. It was discovered just how malevolent the substance can be when a mal-nourished crystal being carried by a lab worker suddenly grew a sharp spike and stabbed through the protective gloves. The Remorium did not feed on the worker’s bio-electrical energy however, but instead, sent a concentrated burst of gamma radiation running into the worker’s system spreading intense gamma radiation through their blood and quickly destroying all of the DNA in their system and liquefying their skeletal structure.

With the knowledge that Remorium had slight cognitive ability, Harrison proceeded to attempt to train it. She discovered that not only could it turn biological energy into gamma radiation, but also found the reverse to be true. This gave rise to the first Remorium powered electric generator. In its simplest form, the reactor supplies a Remorium crystal with a constant flow of gamma radiation from high density plutonium. Durable reinforcements are placed around the Remorium crystal to stop it from expanding beyond it’s confinements, forcing it to release the energy in another form, bio neural electricity. This electricity is then converted into whatever
form is required.

With the discovery of this renewable and easily accessible form of energy, Humanity’s technological progress quickly reached, and then surpassed that of the previous civilizations. City states began to form when, in an attempt to escape the hostile environment of the wasteland, people began to build cities high above ground on top of giant pillars thousands of feet above ground level.

These states where cooperative in the beginning and they built starships to explore the solar system and invented a system of folding space/time to facilitate exploration into deep space. The moon was colonized, then Mars, then Ganymede. Finally a colony was established at a trinary star system, Utopia Terra Nova.

With Utopia Terra Nova so far away from the rest of humanity and mobile space-fold drives being so large and delicate, it was decided that a more permanent means of hyper-space travel was needed in order to facilitate trade and commerce or, if need be, aid between the two star systems. A permanent warp gate was built at the edge of each system which could propel a ship passing though into subspace and project them to any point within twelve light years.

Humanity was in it’s golden age. Only one hundred and thirty years after facing near annihilation, humans where now more prosperous than ever, spanning many planets and star systems, but already, lines where being drawn dividing everyone. Earth, had the Remorium, the substance which drove all of the technology which allowed humans to travel in space.
Mars was rich in industrial metals waiting to be mined while Ganymede had all the clean water in the star system. The Utopia Terra Nova colonies where situated on three different earth-like planets, each with exotic wild life and where perfect for farming and colonization.

While trade was a lucrative business, piracy was even more so. Bands of starship raiders flying modified transport ships and personal space yachts began pillaging shipping lanes. This led to the formation of three separate super states. The flying cities of earth and the lunar colonies banded together to form the Earth Defense Forces, (EDF) the Mars and Ganymede colonies formed the United Merchant’s Alliance (U.M.A) and the Utopia Terra Nova Collonies formed the Tri-System Conglomerate. (T.S.C.)

Each of these factions took to building space borne armies of sophisticated fighter craft and powerful battleships to carry them, all in the name of ridding the star system of piracy. They where hugely successful. Once formal military units had been established, piracy was nearly eliminated entirely or at least restricted to electronic piracy.

It was as this point which disaster struck once more. There was an explosion at the Sol Warp Gate which killed thousands of U.M.A. citizens living on the station. No one claimed responsibility for the destruction, but the U.M.A. suspected foul play. Both the E.D.F. and the T.S.C. governments denied allegations of guilt, but in response, the U.M.A. doubled their tariffs on trade until the gate could be reconstructed.

At the same time, the E.D.F. was facing serious problems. There where only eight plate cities, which could only hold a limited number of people, and while they had planned to develop more, spending was diverted from the project once the E.D.F. was established to pay for the military, and with trade tariffs so high, they could no longer afford to buy the materials to build more plate cities.

Facing civil unrest, the E.D.F. began to clamp down on rebels living on the surface. In response to terrorist attacks from mal contents, the E.D.F. began to distance themselves from the people still living on the surface. They cut off aid, medical supplies and food and began to place soldiers on permanent guards, brutalizing the populace and keeping them suppressed, meanwhile denying everything to the people living on the plates.

The E.D.F. continued its military buildup to maintain order at home, mean while, the U.M.A. feeling threatened by the E.D.F’s technological advantage in Remorium and their steady military buildup began to develop superior conventional technologies in an attempt to wean themselves from their dependence of the Earth and its Remorium. All the while, the T.S.C. no longer receiving shipments from the Sol system began to adopt a sense of independence and eventually, xenophobia. Tensions rise as these trends continue for another thirty years, and it is at this point, Two hundred and thirteen years since the discovery of Remorium (AR) that one man will save mankind from self destruction for a second time.



The Year is AR 174. (After Remorium) Approximately two hundred years since humanity re-emerged from underground shelters. Thanks to Remorium based technollogy, humanity is thriving once again, but this is largely due to the actions of the first United Earth Government who ruled at a time of unchecked splendour and discovery during the years AR 111-125. A small group within the government foresaw a time when Humanity would be faced with the same challenge that destroyed civilisation before.

To premptively combat this threat of internal destruction a secret commision was formed and a solution was reached. An automated system would be built to defend against internal or external threats to civilisation. Two systems, the Hunter system and the Shogun system were created.

The Hunter system composed a singular AI which would constantly upgrade it’s systems as new technollogy would become available. Unwittingly, the designers built it in the form of an Archangel, a humanoid armored suit with large wing jets. They built it using redundant Remorium Memory Armor (RMA), each molecule of the Hunter Suit contains the information required to rebuild the entire system like the cells of the body each containing the DNA to create a full human.

The second system that was devised was the Shogun Collective system. This was a modular system comprised of thousands of specialised robots, each of which was connected to the other through a cypher of wide band Subspace Comunication systems. (Think Borg here, that’s really what I’m after) Each system was tested and re-tested and they were deemed to be equal but each with it’s own strengths and weaknesses, and so, the two systems were linked and activated.

The very first thing that both systems agreed upon was that secrecy must be contained at all cost. The first action was to destroy all evidence of thier creation. All the scientists who had worked on the hunter and shogun systems met with unfortunatly explicable accidents.

For the next few years, the Systems remained basically inactive, plate citys began to spurt up, new technollogies were developed and added to both systems. The Shogun system now comprised millions of specialised devices and Hunter was ten times more powerful than it had been at the ouset.

The Government that had created them was gone now, and had been replaced by the Earth Defense Force. The star system was locked in a deadly battle with a huge number of Piratical raiders, goods were not moving, and people cried out for a solution. The EDF was that solution, they built starships and video cameras all over the plate cities. The starships hunted down the pirates and anyone caught dealing with the pirates was arrested and punished and everyone championed the EDF. But the Tri System and Martians became weary of the military might and built fleets of thier own.

Humanity is in deadlock, but Hunter precieves a greater threat. One that no conventional army could defeat because the threat is such that Humanity is not evolved enough to confront it. Shogun on the other hand is not inhibited by the flesh of humanity and begins to prepare to meet this threat head on, but Hunter points out that to stop the threat, humanity would have to be comprimised.

Hunter devises an alternative solution. He will take five humans and Jumpstart thier next evolutionary faze with the help of Remorium. This RP will be the story of those five people.

Technomancer: This discipline uses the remorium’s ability to manipulate electron flow and specialises in the control of electrical circuits. The technomancer will easilly gain access to electrical systems by the expident of touching the surface of the machine they wish to interact with. Take this relationship to any extreems that you wish.
