The rain came down like a thick early morning fog, and the parka Draconis was wearing was hardly doing any good anymore, he was soaked. Despite the fact that he could see in the dark, it became really hard to see. For a while he could hear Sara's footsteps behind him, crunching in the wet leaves, but as time passed he became concentrated on their path and didn't notice when she fell behind. Draconis stopped for a moment to think. It was late, they hadn't eaten in almost 24 hours, and it was pouring rain outside.

Sara's footsteps were suddenly hearable again, and she grabbed for the back of Draconis' parka, nearly knocking him forward. Despite this, he was glad to have her company. If I remember correctly Draconis thought, There should be a wild blueberry patch up ahead. Another flash of lightning and another loud boom followed his thoughts. Sure enough, some three hundred yards ahead, they ran into an expansive space filled with wild blueberry bushes, all filled with luscious ripe wild blueberries. Also per what Draconis remembered, there was a large hollowed out redwood on the edge of the glade. Unfortunately the redwood had fallen, but it had broken far enough up the trunk that it was far enough off the ground to allow a small space for two people to sit and stay dry. It was loud with all of the lightning and the rain, so Draconis reached back toward Sara and pointed at the patch, then pointed at the tree. Draconis himself was extremely happy that they had found shelter from the storm, but they weren't alone.
