Draconis grabbed his sword and hoisted it up once again, then he held Sara's hand tightly and pulled as he tried to run back towards Zewd's cabin. Human legs were highly inefficient, and he ran much slower than he usually was accustomed to.
"Look." Draconis began to say as he ran. "I never said anything about my magic ability because its only usable when I'm human. There's a spell that can be used against us of the Amulets, which can make our bodies absorb the amulet and increase the power of the amulet 100 fold. In my case, it turns me completely human." He dodged a brance and made sure Sara made it under it as well. "I had Zewd teach me some magic, but for some reason it doesn't work out so well with my vampiric blood. Humans are more suited for magic than vampires, believe it or not." This is why he questioned Zewd's abilities so fervently, she was extremely powerful in the magical arts, and impossibly so as a vampire. "That little lock trick I played on your window that night we met; that is probably the most useful of my vampiric magical abilities." He looked at the sun, they had a lot of ground to cover, and not much time. "As a human, I have no idea how powerful I am... this is a first for me." He stubbed his foot on a tree root and gave a short cry of pain. He didn't dare slow down, but human pain was far worse than that of a vampire.
Draconis finally slowed down out of fatigue some time later, still holding onto Sara's hand as tightly as he could. Liz would kill both of them, but she would more than likely torture Sara simply for being involved with Draconis, and Draconis would see a cold day in hell before he would let that happen. Draconis looked at the sun again... the crest had almost set over the horizon.
