The Dark Messengers
my first RP story, so be nice. It'll be mostly story driven but with some battle in it.
World Setting: Terra
Timeline: Mixed, fantasy setting but guns do exist but only as basic projectile weapons.
Storyline:The Dark Messengers, ageless entities that appeared in the beginning ages of men when the land of Terra was consumed by total war. In one of the torn pages of an old journal by a soldier in the armies of men.
"The sky was blackened and the world was in an eternal night. the armies of the world were about to meet when we saw the light. Bright it was that we had to avert our eyes, we squinted and we saw things in the light. Four there were and they were decending towards us, if they were made of obsidian or if the light they decended made them and their wings appear black, I do not know but dark as the night they were as they came down on the light and they were singing, we could all hear they're hymn. It rung through us all.
Black as they were, their own bodies emmited a light as they came down. blood red, midnight blue, early gold, and leaf green. They have landed and their wings are gone, replaced by robes. Robes of a judge, a priest, a nomadic tribesman and a ruined soul. Their faces hardened into masks, one who looked as he were about to speak, another of hunger, one giving a death sentence and another searching for other lost souls. By the Wise One, they are coming towards us..."
Another Journal page from a different soldier reported:
"Our captain called out to them, asking them who they were and why they were here. They spoke barely above a whisper, yet their voice carried like a roar. "War, Famine, Pestilence, Death." then they said only two more words before flying off to the Ash Lands, I fear it may be the reason why they are here. "Jugement Day." and they were gone.
Much time had passed before they would be heard of and seen again. During the second era of the Arumin kingdom, on a clear night, a boy spotted a light coming from the top of the Obelisk. Fearing it was an Omen, the king during that traveled with a great army towards the Ash Lands. A soldiers note details what happened at the great gate.
"He stands there, in the midsts of the howling winds. Red lines cover his mask and a blood colored vest binds his robes, he is a priest of evil. Our lord is calling towards but he doesn't answer, he only says to our lord "Learn to swim." before flying off to that blasphemous Volcano."
Another of a surviving scout at that time details what occured at the volcano. "My lord is down! but I dare not move out of fear. Our lord has nowhere to go, behind him is a fall to the lava, infront of him, that wicked priest. He speaks again, "Your people will learn, that none can escape the eye of the one. Now. Learn to swim." My lord, no, my lord!"
the remains of a burned note from the same scout details the night when the news of the kings death is reported.
"Arumin burns! fire from the sky falls upon us. No... The eye, it sees us all! \That flaming eye! Curse that priest! No. No priest, he knew this would happen! A wicked Prophet! The eye, it won't leave me..."
More notes and journal pages soon appeared during the following nights of that events, naming the other messengers as well.
The Judge: "Nothing! Nothing hurts him, he just stands there in his black and green robes, he's staring at me. Those scales! Those wicked scales! He only spoke a word, "Guilty!" and my entire platoon was carried away in the wind..."
The Wanderer: "Our entire crops! Ruined! all but for a single ear of corn! He just stands there, that mask of hunger! He has doomed us all!
The Wretch: "He just stands there in the storm in his ruined robes. How is he even able to hold that scythe? It's bigger than him! My captain walked up to him... A sound of thunder and bolt of lightning... And he is gone... And my captain... My captain!"
These are the only recorded evidence of those who survived their encounter with the messengers and the catastrophes that followed. It has been ages since anyone has heard or seen them.
Much time has passed and now in the present, the stories have been relegated to myths and ways of keeping children to behave. However now in the prosperous kingdom, on a moonlit night, all that is about to change... A farm hand in the hills tending to his crops looks up at the moon and becomes frozen with fear as he sees a light burning at the top of the Obelisk once more.
The time is near, do you have what it takes to stop the messengers? Or will Judgement be carried out?
I'm hoping to have atleast three to five people join up. I'll be the antagonists, the messenegers themselves and a bio of them will be up shortly.
