I'm definitely for a technical remake, since they've already done so with 1-4.. I see no reason why 7 should be spared from getting improvements based on current technology. In fact, I'm hoping that they remake 5-9. 5-6 could get their major facelifts just as FF4 will be getting in Dec, and 7-9 could all be fitted into single DVDs with marked up FMV quality and graphic rendering...

a remake for FF7 makes sense because they've already created this Compilation of FF7 market.. and its quite strange how the core game is completely out of place from the rest of it, which utilize the exact same graphic style, character proportions as well as a heightened future-punk style.

If i were to see the VII remake happen, I'd want it to be on the PS2, on a dvd, and follow in the graphic style of the rest of the compilation. It should use as much of the old pre-rendered CG backgrounds as possible, and feature no voice acting. FMVs should all be redrawn to the compilation's standards. The rest really just need a graphical and audio reworking.. Smoother textures, less crappy animation etc.. SE knows this stuff better.. to basically bring FFVII up to their current standard of expectation...
