I will explain.
After I found out about the movie about six months before it came out, I shook in excitement for it. It had beautiful landscapes and scenery, familiar characters in stunning detail, and the return of Sephiroth. I was expecting a plot to move me emotionally like every other Final Fantasy.
When it came out, it became apparant about thirty minutes into the movie that all it was was fighting. I was watching a movie with a plot that was forgotten over the long action sequences and probably would have had me turning it off if it wasn't for me liking Final Fantasy VII.
I can tell by the music and the actions in the last scene with a very short monologue from Cloud that it was supposed to be dramatic, but it was laughably pathetic. What Cloud said had nothing to do with his self-conflict in the film. And a bunch of people are being Baptized to cure some disease that wasn't explained all too well in a way that I didn't understand it untill I watched it again.
At the end of the credits I see "Director Tetsuya Nomura" and I say, "Oh crap. The KINGDOM HEARTS director did this? No wonder it sucked."
