I can tell by the music and the actions in the last scene with a very short monologue from Cloud that it was supposed to be dramatic, but it was laughably pathetic. What Cloud said had nothing to do with his self-conflict in the film. And a bunch of people are being Baptized to cure some disease that wasn't explained all too well in a way that I didn't understand it untill I watched it again.
At the end of the credits I see "Director Tetsuya Nomura" and I say, "Oh crap. The KINGDOM HEARTS director did this? No wonder it sucked."

It was not all fighting as Nomura also oversaw the Final Fantasy VII novels (which were released round about the same time the Advent Children was) which cover information about the orphans', the Geostigma Disease among other things which were also quoted in another Final Fantasy VII Ultimania, sadly though the novels have so far only been released in Japan but some sites have translated it for those who thought the Advent Children was the only "sequel" and thought it was only fighting and no storyline - oh and they were not being baptized - they were being healed, think of the water as a good old Mega Elixer created by Aerith/Aeris.
Advent Children makes more sense with the novels and other games (also including the Last Order episode).
*Shrugs* But it is your opinion but I must say I disagree with you due to the novels and such.
