Yes this news post is fairly outdated, but for most people, they probably arn't even aware of this game's existance, as i was.
Released on May 12th 2008, as another addition to final fantasy's crystal chronicles compilation, My life as a king takes to the stage as a direct sequal following after the events of the original gamecube release. Here, you take the role of King Leo, a young clavat boy who assumes the throne of 'the realm' and who's goal is to restore the land through the use of the great Crystals' bestowed power known as Architek.
Yes, that means that through the course of this game, you will be rebuilding kingdoms and cities, and collecting taxes, and building... more kingdoms and cities. (Oh, how everyone has longed to play as the monarchical NPC who sits around all the time throughout rpg history :P)
There are still monsters, and "conflicts" which must be fixed, except YOU don't deal with them, you're the king, adventurers do that stuff. So lucky you, you get to be the one who posts bullitens and monster hunt tabloids throughout the town, and the adventurers get to do all the action for you. This could be fun, if you like playing the role of an npc, or if you like sim city games. Crystal Chronicles: My life as a King is available for the Wii via Wii Ware downloads, and newer downloads are available as time goes on.
