Re: New Final Fantasy XIII trailer from E3
Hate to break it to you guys, but this was always gonna happen. Before I tackle the matter of Microsoft 'robbing' arguably Sony's most valuable exclusive lets all bare in mind that Nintendo held the rights to all the FFs until the PlayStation / N64 era.
Why?
The simple fact is that Nintendo simply weren't catering to Squaresoft's needs. They wanted a platform which could hold much more data on a game than just a mere cartridge. Sony had the disc space Nintendo simply couldn't match and so the switch was made (and what a switch).
Let's get one thing straight. Developers have no life time binds to a certain console manufacturer unless the console manufacturer owns the developing company. Square Enix makes its own rules. The 360 has been the better console for software for a long time, Halo has established an enormous fanbase and with strong 360 exclusives such as Fable II and Gears 2, comparing them to the PS3's Haze and Resistance is almost a waste of time. Truth be told the only game I'm jealous of on the PS3 is Little Big Planet (yes that includes MGS4).
But anyway, Square Enix has acknowledged the 360's popularity in the west and has capitalised on it. Microsoft has too much money for Sony to hold on to their great exclusives such as GTA and now FF. To be perfectly honest we should just be happy more and more people are going to enjoy the franchise and SE will make even more money, however I do feel for those whose decision on either the PS3 or the 360 swung on this game, only to find out it's hitting both platforms.
