I presume we've all heard of the Final Fantasy's 20th Anniversary Projects, one of which is now released in Japan [FFI]. To me, actually it's certainly more visually appealing than its predecessors, namely of which, Dawn of Souls.
So North American release dates are, respectively: Final Fantasy - June 26, 2007 Final Fantasy II - July 24, 2007. And here are some screens: Kotaku, the Gamer’s Guide Thoughts? |

I'm not likely to buy this because a. I don't have a PSP nor am I likely to get it b. I really have played this game to death. It is without a doubt my favorite of all time in FF at least but frankly playing it on four or five verison is simply more than anyone can stand of even the awesomenessest of games. :P
But 20th for FF? That's majorly cool. :P Not exactly FINAL, eh?

The graphics do look a bit better on the PSP, but they certainly could be improved a bit. I don't see all that much improvement from the PS1 re-make of FFI tbh.
The biggest change I can actually see, is that the text stands out a bit more. Also, I don't see why they are releasing both games separately, especially seeing as up until now (apart from when they first came out) they've been packaged together. I don't think I'll be buying either unless they bring them out together, which no doubt will happen some time in the not too distant future |

The new graphics seem quite impressive only from looking back at the other versions of it.
Too bad I don't bother buying PSP games anymore because you can actually just download the UMD and convert it to an iso and play it on your psp without buying them.

the thing which really puzzles me is why there wasn't an international release set. The version released in japan comes with the function to fully switch to english..
the only reason why its different from the NA release is probably the instruction booklet and the region (which as far as i can remember doesnt matter for UMD format, if there even is 'region') edit 24/5 ![]() oh wow.. i saw this on the US official website for anniversary ff1 & 2.. if these are the actual PSP cover boxes, i must say it looks gorgeous |

FF2's battle system isnt really as bad as they say..
I enjoyed it. It was fun making my characters overwhelmingly powerful (until those damn undead drain-attack mobs come back to pwn me). I liked having to train alot at 1 time and then breeze through the story content later on.. Another thing that makes FF2 an easy play is equipment. Getting advanced equipment in the game earlier makes battles a whole lot easier... which is why its worth the risk visiting Mysidia as early as you can (with enough gil).. |

Just so you guys know, Final Fantasy Extreme will be getting a bit of a shot in the arm in order to celebrate the anniversary of Final Fantasy.
There won't be huge changes, but expect a few surprises here and there. ![]()
