FFVI Questions

Okay I just started FFVI for the PS1 and I just left South Figaro and went to the small cottage then went up the mountain to fight Vargas I got my ass beat that was uhh level 10 .Okay after that i've been leveling up currently i am at Level 14 for all my current party members so what i'm asking is what level should I be to fight vargas

Vargas the monk? You are already over leveled. Just use one of Sabin's blitzes. Left Right Left.

Eh? I did?what level was i suppose to be to beat him because I almost got killed by him before with Terra and co.

Level 12, although I was 8 when I did it, hard but it still worked.
Use Terra's fire magic, Locke to heal and Edgar to use his tools. Than, when Sabin comes in, push Blitz and than "Left, Right and than Left" again and push "X" on the controller. He should so his Blitz move and kill Vargas, giving you a scene.

Oh, one more thing! Levels are different in VI. The only thing that levels up by itself is HP. Its best to say a low level until you get some Espers and equip them, other wise you won't be growing in states.

You learn magic from espers. Only Terra and Celes can learn magic naturally from leveling, though their pool is limited.
Espers also boost your stats as you level up.
Though boosting stats plays a secondary role compared to equipment, which dramatically effects your performance on the field.

As Garland said above, they increase your states. But weapons make a big difference.

Level kind of plays a factor in battle too I think. It's added to the damage equation isn't it?

Not really, since they don't take damage for you, like they did in VIII. Good luck with Ultros. Be sure to level Banon to where he can take a hit from the bastards tentacles. That always pissed me off whenever he would kill him last second just to avoid death.

That's not what she meant. They are all in the same basic zone. Same construction.
GFs, Summons, Espers, Aeons...whatever they are, they are all basically the same.

I understand that, its just that when I normally hear GF, I instantly think FFVIII.

She meant the system as in they boost your stats while leveling to some degree. the Eidolons from IV don't work the same as the Espers from VI.
