Final Fantasy V has to been one of the well made FF in the series. The Musical Scores, The back ground and ideas all make this one a joy to play and I got addicted to its game play. The whole system is a challenge which I liked a lot and you never run out of something to do. The Remade Playstation version was incredible with the full motion FMV’s throughout
For those who haven’t played FFV (either being that it wasn’t released in your continent, or you haven’t found the time to bother) I recommend you do. Here’s a summery of the game for those who are interested: Final Fantasy V takes place within three different worlds. As you progress the characters reveal that one millennium before the events of the main story unfold, the worlds existed as one. A powerful mage named Enuo, using the power of an evil entity known as the "Void," imperiled the world. Its people retaliated, using twelve legendary weapons to vanquish Enuo. Because the Void could not be destroyed, the people split the world's four elemental Crystals into two sets, which sequentially caused the world itself to split. The Void then became sealed in a dimensional cleft between the two worlds. Nearly one thousand years passed without incident and both worlds prospered due to the powers of their Crystals of Wind, Water, Fire, and Earth. Several kingdoms and towns developed, and travel by ship acted as a prominent means of commerce and communication. At some point, an evil spirit was born in an ancient tree in the Moore Forest of one of the worlds. The being emerged as Exdeath, the game's primary antagonist. As he attempted to claim the world for himself, a group of heroes called the "Four Warriors of Dawn" defeated and sealed him within the parallel world using its Crystals, and peace returned for another thirty years. Final Fantasy V opens after this three-decade period. The story then begins with the character named Bartz investigating a meteorite strike. There he encounters several characters who reveal the danger facing the four Crystals that control the world's elements and allow its prosperity. These Crystals act as a seal on Exdeath, an evil sorcerer who once threatened their world. It is up to Bartz and his party to keep the Crystals from being exploited by Exdeath's influence and to prevent his resurgence.

I've played Final Fantasy V for the Super Nintendo, and I own it for the Playstation and Gameboy Advance. It's a really entertaining game, and I like the jobs system in it, although it sometimes takes a long time to gain one job level (it could take between 10 JP and 999 JP to gain one job level for certain jobs). I did manage to master all of my jobs once. Took a lot of time and effort (over 100 hours of gameplay, if I remember correctly).

![]() Yeah, I'd say I liked it quite a bit. The story was a bit subpar for that era of the series, but it made a lot more sense on the second playthrough than it was on the first. The characters were rather generic, but I get the impression they weren't supposed to be particularly deep, that way you could assign your own personalities to them as you played through. It's probably my favourite in the series after FFVI and FFIX. |

In my eyes, FFV is pure win because of the level of customization that is possible.
Being able to choose from just about every job class introduced into the FF world means that you can make the game as easy or as hard as you want, and even if you make what you think is the perfect team, there is always some obstacle that comes along to make you change the class of one of your characters for either a whole dungeon or just one specific section, meaning that it's always a good idea to raise the job level of the jobs you would usually neglect. I can't remember where exactly I was going with this post 'coz it was so long ago that I started writing it, so I'm just gonna stop here =/ |

If I could pick out one FF from I-XII exept XI and X-II then I must say that this was the game i enjoyed the least. It get's dull when you play as the same characters all the time and the "villian" in this game was a big kliché. But still a fairly good game but nothing like IV or VI.

i agree with FFKing, while V is a great game, I think its one of the weakest in the series, though not quite the weakest (that "honour" goes to XI and XII, though both those games are quite good) the villian is dull, and dosen't hold up against Golbez of IV, and it gets boring from having the same characters all the time. The Job system has it's merits, being very customisable, and at the expense of it's characters, as with out pre-set jobs it makes it incredibly hard to tell an interesting back ground story, while in IV we asked "why did Cecil become a dark knight?" or " Why can Rydia summon?" These questions wouldn't be answered (plus the story wouldn't make sense) if you used the Job system of V, making Bartz, Lenna, Faris, galuf and krile have cliche stories (with the exception of Galuf and krile) if you get what I'm trying to get at
Though Faris has an interesting story at the the start but she becomes mute after the middle of the game, and only has a few throw away lines. (bit like Basch in XII) The music is good, but it just isn't as "hummable" as the previous 4 games. then theres the ending. The beautiful and intericate ending of IV was amazing, but that isn't repeated here. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the game, and my rantings probably don't make any sense, but its the entry I least enjoyed (after XI and XII) |

Story wise FF V was the weakest (with XII a close second) but the job system was simply superb (just like the gambit system). The job system was the only thing that got me through the game, although it was fustrating trying to master a job.
But still, FF V (and XII) is better than most games because FF is simply the best series. |
