The trick to it is to take out his faithful companion first and make sure you dispel them both and having Haste, Protect, Shell and Bravery helps during the battle.
^ Just one of the little tricks I use on one or two of my characters. *Shrugs* It may or may not be the battle style for you though.
Merry Christmas to you too!

I do not own a GameShark or any sort of modification device, nor a walkthrough - in fact I write my own walkthroughs and they are absolutely complete with exact maps that I've drawn up and notes I've worked out on the side.
I didn't really bother doing what everyone else did in XII - use the guests and other characters as Tanks. I just got the best equipment I could, filled up the License System for all characters, stocked up on all items and went all out on the enemies - I only have a couple of Gambits set up for each character, only with some magic and/or items if I've even got them activated. It's possible to defeat them all quickly, I mean hell... I took down Chaos with only the use of the 1000 Needles Technick. It just shows that you do not need tutorials to discover everything within a game or to defeat the enemies with even lower levels then everyone else as it truly is possible. *Shrugs* I just work out what I can do to weaken the enemy and I use it's weakness as an advantage, I move my characters around so they avoid most attacks and continue attacking without actually using a Tank or properly Kiting (which is battling from afar with a ranged weapon).
Sure some battles may be longer than others but it's worth it sometimes (Zeromus was taken down in about twenty-minutes while Yiazmat, Hell Wyrm, Omega Mark XII and Zodiark took the longest but that was due to having the Gambits set up for those battles).
... Video games don't last long in my house... >.<;

Ah I see.
I did, the items are useful from Gilgamesh and his faithful companion.

Ok, I just picked up FFXII again, and I heard you can get fishing on it. How do you unlock fishing?
Oh, and another thing, I've been chasing a cocatrice around Rabanastre for ages and can't catch him. I've tried creeping up behind him, hiding behind pillars and poles and ambushing him and jumping out from corners and I still can't catch him. Is there a trick to this?
Thanks in advance guys.

Alright, you know the village in the desert (Dalmasca Eastersand - across from the Barheim Passage), talk to the man on the Dock after saving the village from an invasion of Cactuars, also you need to help get a Cockatrice back home to Giza Plains, but you require an item called "Feather of the Flock" which is obtainable in the area from where you fought the... Gil Snapper.
Now, you must talk to the man on the dock - his name is Ruskel (or Ruksel, I can't exactly remember currently) and he will say that he wants to fish, now go to the Aerodrome in The Port of Balfonheim, there will be a man fishing, now basically talk to him and ask him for his rod, talk to him another couple of times, then walk off to the Aerodrome but do not enter it, walk back and he'll have gone for lunch and he'll have left his fishing rod, take it and then head back to the Eastersand village and give the rod to Ruksel/Ruskel and you will unlock the fishing mini-game.
Now, back to the Cockatrice, you need to walk around to the Gambit store or by the Clan Centurio hall and wait behind the pillars on the very edge, now you will have to walk out when the Cockatrice goes past, and will need to keep walking until it goes to turn when you race up and talk to it, the answer to it's question is "...Errr.....no." and he should head back to where you first encounter him Rabanstre and you should be able to talk to him again and he will eventually go back to Giza Plains, once you've sent all Cockatrices' back to Giza Plains, talk to Terra and you shall get an extra reward.
I hope that explains a few things, sorry... poor memory as I've been playing through DoC.

Yeah, thanks a lot, that should help. I've also been playing DoC as well, as with Revenant Wings. And my parents surprised me with a PSP, so I can't wait for Dissidia and Crisis Core now, and I have never played Tactics Advance, I should get that soon.
