I'm acctually all for the remake. I mean, FF-VII- was without doubt, one of the greatest games I've ever had the pleasure of playing! In fact, I've re-played that game more then any game I've ever bought! Seeing it with better graphics, and possibly an extended story line would be excellent! Instead of making terrible compilations such as Direge of Cerebrus, they should have just waited for the PS3, and explained alot more in the remake. Not to discourage any one who wants to buy -DoC- from buying it, its a great game if you love shooters, but it didn't have that FF-VII- vibe.

Yeah, that's why I don't consider the Ultimania Guide to be particularly credible. It doesn't make sense.

In any case of lets try to stay on topic though I just skimmed a couple of posts. I say I'd rather wait awhile before they decide to remake FFVII. Mainly because I'd rather see something new instead of just really pointless spin offs and that there are other better games that I believe should get higher priority on the "be remade" list. FFVII now can still be used on the current systems and all. I'd rather see one of the much older Final Fantasies be remade, such as IV or VI.
Well that's my two cents.

if it does get remade for the ps3, i hope the graphics, gameplay, music clearity, and overall look and feel of the game really pushes the ps3 to it's limits to make it stand out as a next gen game..and not make ff7 a remake failure

I don't the GBA would be able to handle FFVII. And if it were remade for the DS (if that's even possible, most likely not), it'd be **** for sure. I don't think the DS is capable of handling FF7 either, but I don't own a DS so I wouldn't know.

I heard that it was possible to download FFVII on to the PSP, I wonder if square will remake or just re-release it onto the PSP. but I really wish they would remake it seeing as it was rushed and some parts of the story were "technically" unfinished.

A full PS3 remake of FFVII would consume far more resources than SquareEnix can spare at this moment in time. I mean, it would basically require the same amount of effort to update the graphics, the script and battle system in FFVII then it would to make a new FF game. It would essentially take the place of another, potentially decent installment to the series.
If it is remade, SquareEnix will probably take the cheap route and port it to the PSP with a few extra crappy features that no one cares about (a la FFIV-VI Advance). This has the advantage of them not only putting about zero effort into something that would potentially sell millions, but would also give them an excuse to not release FFVII for download to be used with the PSP's PSX emulation software.
It's what I would do, if I was an ******* cooperations.

There are only two reasons to buy a ps3. One is MGS4 the other would be a remake of VII.
I do hope they make it but not with badly done voice acting.

It's already been ported to PSP, via their download service, which I've forgotten the name of at the moment. Given the new direction that SE is thaking, though... meh, they're milking as many titles as they can. X-2 had a sequel, VII has the compilation, XII is getting a sequel, XIII is getting a whole compilation all it's own, Tactics is getting remakes/spinoffs/a connection to XII...
If they're using resources on that crap, why not a remake of VII, which is something many fans have been asking for for years?

I'm half and half about a remake. For it because I would love to see the real FFVII world in high end graphics with great detail. But that is the only perk I can think of.
The english VA cast disappointed me all around. Cloud, Reeve and Barret were the only ones who didn't disappoint me. If there was a remake, I'd have to listen to it on mute and play the OST in the background. I disliked the VA's that much. The japanese cast wasn't that bad. If they included an option to have Japanese audio but english subs, then I'd totally go for it. Also if they didn't monkey around with the storyline too much. Maybe if they tried to explain some inconsistencies, but not actually change anything.
Lastly, it'd only be awesome if they kept the typos in, "This guy are sick" and a few others.
