How can you list all those add-ons and not mention fixing the horrid translation? That would be the single most urgent thing Square could do if FFVII were remade.

And the game makes it pretty clear that Jenova never actually died, she just went dormant. When Shin-Ra employees started ****ing about with Jenova cells, that revived her, and it's pretty clear from the mechanics of the story that she began deliberately manipulating things to work out in her favour as soon as Shin-Ra revived her.

A remake wouldn't mind me, but if they altered the game in any sort of way such as changing content I think that would have a huge impact on the way I view the game. But even so, the 'remake' will change the way I view the game because the game I loved was then graphically remastered so yeah.. a remake wouldn't change the way I see the game.

heres what FF8 would of looked like if it came out on the PS2. its a tech demo Square did just before the
PS2 came out. But definatly Sqaure should do remakes like this.

If they remade it i would buy it. However i would fear they would change the storyline to much. The only way it would work for me is if they just upgraded everything and made the translations better. I think the same should be done for most of the previous ones as well. Though i love 8 and 9, there understandable and good enough as 7 and the ones before arnt. Also most people have just played 7 8 9 10 onwards. And the reason they didnt play 6 5 4 3 2 1 is just because of the shoddy graphics. Though im fine with this they would make alot more money and bring in alot more fans by re doing these ones.

imo.

Those graphics don't excite me, the sequence in FF VIII on PS one seem to be very similar except in this tech demo its a darker enviroment

It would be a good idea. I dout they will change the story at all... maybe they will have the alternative costumes (advent) availiable and as Dark cloud said the ability to select either classical or advent music....maybe they could make sephiroth more difficult.

I wonder though when they obviously correct the translation problems will Aeris become Aerith??

It would essentially take the place of another, potentially decent installment to the series.
I think you're underestimating how large Square-Enix has become. They have grown immensely in the last 5 years (since the addition of Enix)

I'm going to guess that they will make a remake, but won't start production until early 2008, once a few of their current projects are finished. Square-Enix loves to make money... there are a ton of threads like this all over the internet, the demand for a Final Fantasy 7 is high, and Square-Enix has even said (if we continue to see this kind of response, we'll definately consider it).

Graphics
Sound (orchestra)
Vincent and Yuffie are compulsory
Voice Acting
Script Upgrade

I agree with the above, however I don't think it should include anything related to the complilation... they need to keep the storyline exactly the way it was.

I think they should also expand the towns and cities, they were always very small. Also expand on the minigames a bit... add more chocobo types for breeding and more race tracks for racing. Even add multiplayer functionality for some of the minigames like snowboarding and chocobo racing.

i dont think Square Enix would sell themselves that easily. A FF7 remake is possible if Square Enix is willing. though parts of the game will be hard to do. like the revising the music: Nobou made the music for it and now he's not working for Square anymore and it wont be easy getting him to do it. it wouldnt be the same if some other person did it; at least for me.

You think if it's if Square is willing? If they do make one, it's because the demand was high enough. They've already proven that they're cash whores (every remake in existance [take a look at FFI and II, been remade several times for several different consoles])

Default Re: Remake of Final Fantasy VII?

a remake of FF7 seems like an eventual thing... this mainly because the rest of the Compilation of FFVII are on par with one another, but the core game they're based on is far behind... and also because it will sell very well...

If remade, things I want changed:

> Fully relocalized script and checked for continuity with the rest of the compilation

> Graphic overhaul. Pre-rendered backgrounds can remain, but will need to be brushed up in terms of resolution and quality and possibly by adding more moving objects in each environment.

> Character models will also be upgraded. Something along the lines of the FFVII models in Kingdom Hearts seems sufficient.

> Music overhaul. The original score was fine, but goodness gracious do it in full channel or orchestrated, not synthesizer BS. Some songs might do good with remixing, but sparingly...

> Redone FMVs, obviously.. The technology has progressed too much in 10+ years now.

> Voice Acting, for FMVs at least (like FFIV DS), and possibly important real-time cutscenes. I don't think giving the whole game VA would be a good idea.

extras

> Bestiary
> Art Gallery
> Music Gallery
> FMV Gallery
> Before Crisis
> Original Game FMV Gallery / Art Gallery / Sound Gallery, perhaps..
