Default Favourite Sequel/Spin-off

The Final Fantasy series has many sequels and spin-offs, out of all of them, which one do you like most?

I'm going with Tactics myself, as I find the others to be rather boring (X-2, the VII Compilations, and Versus isn't out yet). It's story was nice and unique, and the political side of it appealed to me greatly.

My favourite's probably DoC. I haven't played a lot of the other because they either weren't released in the UK or I just couldn't be bothered going out and finding a copy.
DoC is a pretty nice change from the mainstream series imo, and it's good to see a shooter with a story for once. (even if it is a bit ****e )

Tactics was my favorite aswell. Decent storyline that wasn't just a love story and it had my all time favorite Cid. Once you got him the game got easy.

Same, I like tactics a lot. I just like those type of games. I'm still waiting for the new DS one to come out. Some ppl say why wait for it because its so similar to the last, I say so what the last one was great. If it's similar than I will like this one too

I suck at Tactics and therefore haven't gotten to experience much of it, but there's no way it's as ****ty as the other spinoffs. One of these days I'm going to figure out what I'm doing wrong and make a serious attempt to play it.

Seriously, I don't see how anyone can say anything other than Tactics or Tactics: Advance. I really can't think of any other FF spinoffs that were worth paying much attention to.

Tactics Advance was really good in my opinion.

VII DOC was good because it re-entered the 7 world, however, the gameplay was a little linear. You couldn't perform the cool stunts Vincent did in the movie. It could have been about 20% longer, and there was not enough variety in enemies. Plus, some of the new characters didn't look like they came from FF7, but rather from X or XII.

I'm hoping to get all the new spinoffs that are coming out like FFTA2 (even though there is no multiplayer....sigh, and no touch capabilities? Doesn't make sense), FFXIIRW (even though the battles look too "click here, click there") and Crystal Chronicles. (It looks a bit lighthearted but the graphics look good and multiplayer should be fun.)

Game: Crisis Core

Fantastic story that deepens FFVII and a final sequence that rivals FFX in terms of raw power. The fact that they took a significant but very minor character from the original and not only built him up to be perhaps the best character in gaming, but they added depth to three of the most popular characters in history (Cloud, Aerith, and Sephiroth). This game floored me in many ways.

Overall: FFVII Compilation

As noted above, the story that has now been flushed out in other games and mediums with the FFVII universe is spectacular. But it is the movie Advent Children and the prequel Crisis Core that really makes the compilation. My only problem with the compilation is the fact that there seems to be two pieces that really don't mesh with the rest (Last Order and the Maiden short story). I'm not sure if they are true aspects of the compilation or more of the creators having a bit of fun tweaking the original aspects of the story to see what happens since both now have stark contradictions with what was done in Crisis Core.
