From my point of view(For all those who are thinking of getting it), if you like that game when you play it and want to buy it. Buy it preplayed from some local shop of yours. This game is pretty easily done in 2-3 days . I wen to my local store to buy it and the guy told me people are a bit dissapointed when they bring back the game and its barely played and doesnt have any scratches.
I got my copy and its like brand new. Anyways, It's a fun game, but try go and rent it to play it if you like it. It's worth trying , but maybe not buying near 50$.

take Devil May Cry 2's gameplay! add in a FFVII storyline that really didn't have anything to do with the main story line! Add in a dash of some J-pop and what do you have? A meh 3rd person shooter that the jpop and ff fans will buy!
SE. stick to the RPG's leave the third person shooters to the proper designers.

Really, the gameplay was alright. I had fun playing the game, but the story was... meh. It wasn't able to pull me in, I found it just boring. I guess people fascinated with Vincent would like it seeing as his past is uncovered, but that's about it all there is to it, for me at least.

I liked it.. Got most of the story.. and yeah it could have used a bit more work.. but yes.. it is a love or hate game.. like anything really.. I personally like DMC2 more than 1.. and there are alot of people that can't stand #2.. it's depends on the person. But yeah.. It was good and I did like the controls.. once I got used to them and had a fun time playing.. It took forever to get all the memory capsules though.. they were hidden far too well from my point of view... Some were in the most places you';d never even go near of look most of the time.. Who's gonna go look at some other side of a bridge and look at the river bank to shoot a mall capsule you have to zoom in with the snipe scope to actually aim and shoot at?

The game was definitely a mixed bag for me.. I played both the Japanese and English versions and NA games should be glad with the final product they got because its multiple times better than the bitter taste the Japanese version left me with.
I'm not much of a fan of the shooting genre but SE did give us variable difficulty which was a welcome option. The controls were highly intuitive and gameplay was still pretty tight. The main game was pretty basic as far as a shooter went but the extra missions do try to test the limits of the player, which makes it pretty fun in some ways...
The story wasn't that bad. I'd say the general storyline is decent except that they didn't present it in the best manner possible. Also, it was kind of difficult to squeeze in the amount of story content and background info on Lucrecia and those other scientists within the frame of the game, which is actually rather short. Most of the new characters (villians mostly) didn't receive very much development and were quite one-dimensional but perhaps wanting more from the characters would be expecting too much from a shooter.
Sound and music was pretty good. The voice acting was pretty solid and they did give more personality to their 1-D villians such as Rosso and Nero... Weiss was so damn sexy with his pretty boy face, muscled body and voice too lol...
Music score seemed to fit the game pretty well, but its nothing memorable because thats not Hamauzu's style. Mostly ambient kind of music.
All in all, I'd say that Dirge of Cerberus is a pretty good game. There are many elements in it which could have been improved on, although they'd really made the effort to better the game before releasing it in the US. What I'd recommend for people to do if they want to enjoy this game is to throw away all their expectations of what a shooter game should or should not have and just experience this game for what it is. It does have very eclectic shooter/action RPG elements.. the story may not be that enthralling though it does answer some questions in the FFVII universe (and serves to introduce Genesis and Project G to gamers before they come in contact with Crisis Core). The FMV scenes are downright gorgeous tho, as well as the games general aethestic really.. so you should give it a try.

yeah, I'm not quite the shooter game type either, but I have to agree, it was extremely fun for me, I had the greatest time with it. you kind of have to get used to the feel of it, but once you do, it's like **** yeah I've got a shot gun, what are you gonna do about it? not to mention Vincent is sexy :P but hey, this is about gameplay.... right?
it was nice to have a little darker side to a game, and to not have an insensible main character. the effects were quite nice, not to mention there was definitely a variety of enemies.

By no means was it the greatest game ever... but it wasn't absolute **** like I've heard some say. I feel I got my money's worth out of it, if nothing else.
I suppose already being a fan of Vincent to begin with kind of biases me (and had they thrown in the Turks, I'd probably proclaim it the greatest game ever on that fact alone), but I enjoyed playing it, and I don't even particularly like shooters.
Edit: And what's with the damned word filter? I can't even call a game **** anymore?

Can't say this game was very good. Enjoyable, yes, but still a not a "real" FF. And the things that happened in the end was all ****ed up =/

Meh, don't expect too many spin-offs to be "real" FF's.

Aye, ending didn't make sense to me either. Nomura said there was one more game left in the compilation, apparently. I hope to god it isn't a DoC sequel.

If you like third person shooters, Vincent, and a bunch of random **** that doesn't make sense, sure. If not, I suggest you save your money for a better game.
