Post Final Fantasy Stories

Good day fellow fans of the Final Fantasy series. I have come to these forums with a few questions about writing stories involving the universe of FF. I want to see if people have been inspired by the games enough to take their passion to the next level - what I mean by that is... well first off, I'll start with a little background information about myself.

I am currently an English major at UCLA, and have a real interest in writing stories involving Final Fantasy. I have written several adaptations of FF for some of my creative writing courses, some of which have received praise by my professors. I have considered working for Square Enix for some time now (their US headquarters is just 20 minutes from campus), but right now I've been itching to write stories about previous FF worlds and characters. It sort of seems monumental for someone like me to write a good screenplay, and actually have it praised by execs here in Hollywood, but I can say there is a real possibility of that happening.

I have seen others' works on the internet with their premise being the world of Final Fantasy, namely from the site fanfiction.net. Few of them are quite good, but I've seen no professional attempts at screenplays or novel-type pieces of work. So that's where my questions come in at - does anybody know if there has been attempts made such as these? Has anybody ever thought of doing this with the FF series? Would anybody - here or in Japan - even care that a fanboy from the US actually wrote a viable adaptation as a screenplay?

I'm open to any opinions. Thanks.

I've seen a story of FFVII, it had quite alot of pages but was unfinished. It was on the internet and I think i viewed it around 2-3 years ago.

I would definitely be interested in reading any FF stories, as long as they are quite lengthy.

I've never seen nor heard of anyone making a serious attempt at writing out FF games as full stories, and anyone who attempted it and made it known would probably receive a cease and desist order from SE as soon as they heard of it.
