Default Random Encounters?

Gamers all over the world always complain on the random encounters and say the suck e.t.c. What I don't get is how they can think so? I have never had any problem with RE...So what do you think? Is Random Encounters a bitch or is it actully nothing wrong with it?

I think what Batman is tryring to say is that games are/should be alot more dynamic than they were back in the 90's.

Yes, random encounters were an icon of FF games...however, they're got to move forwards with the times.

I liked how in FFXII (like how I love everything in that game) how it's not really random encounters but it's not fully not random encounters. But for the random encouters in the earlier games I don't mind them too much unless I need to get somewhere quickly or I'm low on everything and things are getting annoying.

Random encounters are ok, personally the new battle system in 12 SUCKED it got so repetitive and anoying as hell. maybe if they put monsters on the map but you had to run into them to start the battle i would like that, i really want the old style of fightin back in the games. Hopefully 13 isnt a let down like 12 was

Yes but the fact is that those games was the best. The reason Square (not their fault of course..blame evolution) is moving along with the rest of the world they leave that system/soft graphics behind. I just don't like since I know they'll never make a better game than those who are made.

But anyway....Random Encounters are better in my opinion.

I miss random encounters. *sniffle*

I know that Squeenix is just going along with gaming evolution, and I don't blame them. I kind of wonder, though, if the reason I didn't like not having random encounters in XII was because I didn't like the game as a whole. Uhm.....how to explain myself better......

Maybe I wouldn't have noticed not having random encounters as much had the other parts of the game been enough to captivate me.

Random encounters and the standing still like a muppit battle system rocked. Id give my great grandma to have that back. Stuff ff12 that is a good game but does not deserve the title Final Fantasy. That was just a good game in a final fantasy coustume. I mean it didnt have the epic storyline, it didnt have the fighting system and it didnt have the random encounters. Nor did it have the typical plot line they follow or any of the hidden points to do with todays society and problems.

It would of been an immense game had it not been a final fantasy. Just changing the name would of done me.

They need to make 13 a cross between the old games we know and love and a up to date with the times battle system but just....just find a middle ground. Or do what they want with 13 and then make 14 which is following the same templates of 1-10 but for the ps3.

I prefer Random Encounters. In my oppinion, it just looks better than seeing a bunch of monsters crawling around the field. I'm not so sure it's a good thing to change the trade mark Final Fantasy random encounters in order to move forward. If it's not broke, don't fix it. you can change other aspects in the game to improve it, but a simple thing like changing from Random to Unrandom, changes the game play completely and it has to be done right.

I'm not a big fan of random encounters. They just get annoying. I like being able to avoid, or actually run away from the foes that I'm fighting. Say, I'm running back to town for any reason (low hp), and I need to get there quickly. I shouldn't have to get lucky by using the flee command, I should be able to literally run away from the enemy.

well yes the re isn't that bad but i would like them to make the ff's like they did with star ocean 3: till the end of time. i loved how you could just dodge the enemys and not have to fight them and when you ran into them than you would go into a little battle feild. that was the best in my opinion

I believe Chrono Cross had the same sort of system. Been forever since I've played Chrono Trigger, but it might have as well.

I can go both ways with this, personally I just like to train my party so I don't care how the fight starts. By the way you can run away in either situations where it be RE or monsters on screen.

if alternate screen based RPG battles were to be used, (not realtime single screen battles.) id rather the random battles, then the alternative which was usually a singular avatar of an enemy that would send you into a battle of multiple enemies of its kind once touched. Like SMRPG even though that game ruled.

P.S. in nonrandom battles, Monsters often pursued you, sometimes backing you into an annoying corner and smashing you up. I always got scared, knowing that some gient creepy fug face was still on my tail, visible on my radar, but not on my main screen :/ gives me the jibblies!!!
