Cheers. I'll throw FFT and FFTA in there as well, for great justice. FFMQ and FFCC can suck it.

FFMQ's music wasn't bad either, but that didn't stop it from being a **** game

Why isn't FFXI listed :|?

FFVII was a decent opening, the graphics were amazing at the time but did not show much about the game at all, just created a sense of "i wonder who that is?"

FVIII had a very moving opening, it had amazing fight scenes and created alot of excitement for the people who were just going to play the game.

FFIX also had a touching opening, it made me feel a little upset from the boat scene. It was good to see memories of the past, it added to the games effect.

FFX opening was meh.. didn't impress me that much, a little boring if you ask me.

FFXI opening was quite cool, showed a scene from the war of the crystal then showed you a few main characters that survive it.

FFXII has an amazing opening, full of action and was mind blowing. The only thing which I feel was bad about the opening was the music. Usually when you watch something the scene has to be exciting and the music has to match it, but I feel the music didn't, the music did not make the scene turn out the way it could of been showed.

So overall, my favorite opening is FFIX

I had a liking for FFVIII. It had good music to it in the begining and it kept me going when I played the game. I aslo agree that the tutorials are a pain in the ass. But other than that and the Laguna thing it was good.

I'd have to follow the footsteps of the last 2 posts. FFVIII was amazing and very captivating with it's opening scenes. I love how the music followed a lot of what was going on during the scenes (like the fight) and also allowed us to see the conflict between Squall and Seifer.

8s was good. 7s' was lame compared to having the best storyline

10, The graphics at the time, blew me away. Pity real blitzball in the game wasn't like that

Final Fantasy VIII was one of my favorite openings. But that changed with Final Fantasy XII. In those seven minutes so many events and emotions are envoked. The music and tone completely shift and it take many people by suprised.

I'm gonna stick with X, and that'll be hard to change, even XII didn't surpass it. the mix of the music and awesome gameplay vids was just hands down amazing.

Final Fantasy XIIs opening was my favourite. The set up for the games story was done superbly in the opening FMV. The Marriage of Rassler and Ashe, and then Rasslers death and funeral not soon after gave you a reason why Ashe is such a grumpy bitch when you first meet her, so as to make you not hate her so much. It also kinda tugged at your heartstrings for a few seconds

The beginning gameplay was great. You got thrust into battle pretty much straight away after the obligatory n00b tasks, which thankfully didn't take too long. So you got a good taste of the battle system before you get too far into the game.

And I thought the music was pretty good an' all

I'd have to say that FF6 and FF4 had my favorite beginnings. Both started off with a bit of a bang and both had introduced the man problems very early.

VI's opening ruled. And for Snes/Gba graphics, it was pretty uber seeing them mechs charge through the snow, ever closer to narche. And when CG is the base fact VI still wins. The ps1 opening vid, made it all the more epic. Best Music (made me cry) and awsome use of tension, as a hypnotised princess was being led through the halls of the gystahlen Empire

sigh.. i was wondering the same thing. It irks me that whenever theres a poll with list of FFs somehow FFXI miraculously won't appear, as if it didn't exist..

FFXI had one of the openings I liked more.. because it was very fantasy/war inspired and the music was lovely..

FFVIII for me takes the cake tho.. Liberi Fatali pretty much sealed the deal with the opening FMV even though it was really just teaser opener because other than the Seifer/Squall fight the rest was a collage of filler FMVs... choreography was excellent tho.

The fact that it starts off being so serene (Balamb Garden music) also makes it very enjoyable, cos its one of those where you can start off and explore abit without being forced straight into the story.
