While speaking to investors at GameSpot's Q42006 Earnings Conference, many of the executives believe that Nintendo is withholding more Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii systems on purpose.
The executives believe that because Nintendo has already reached their goal for the year and then some, they stopped releasing the two top-selling systems in the video game franchise so they could save those sales for the next year. Nintendo has not yet been reached for comment on this subject. Source: Wii IGN

Tbh I've not much I can say on the subject, I've been hearing all about the Wii shortages yet don't know a single person who owns one. That means either one of two things: either the shortages are damn true and that's why I don't know anyone with one, or it's utter bull**** and they are holding them back.

I think they are holding back in bigger citys because in my town u wouldnt guess there was a shortage of it because 1/4 people have 1 here or at least the people i kno. Though i think there doing to get publicity because then people will rush to get the system because theres a shortage. Also i dont see how there could be because the Wii really doesnt seem to be much to build other than the controller and motion sensor device. Its pretty much a PS2 with a motion sensor controller.
