Mario & Sonic Collaborate at Last!

For those people who dreamed of seeing Nintendo's own Mario and Sega's Sonic star in the same game, they will finally get their wish.

Based on the 2008 Olympics at Beijing, Mario & Sonic at the Olympics (tentative title) is currently in development by Sega and is slated for release by Christmas 2007. The players will compete in many of the actual Olympic games such as the 100m Dash and High Jump, all by using the Wii's remote and nunchuck.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympics shows that Sega and Nintendo aren't afraid to work with each other, so the many myths of Sonic making an appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl may just become a reality.

I'm not as excited about the game as I am about the fact that Sonic may be a playable character in SSBB.

True, I may not use him much myself but I still wanna see what other third-party characters they bring to the game.

Sonic would eat Mario alive like on one of those Discovery Channel shows. Too bad that's not what we'll get to see when this game comes out.

If Sega's making it, it will be terrible. If Nintendo makes it, it will be gold. Not simply because of the company making it, but because of the style that Sega usually uses. They usually make Sonic really hard to control, as if to portray having to control something that runs at the speeds Sonic does. Decent conscept, but doesn't make for quality gameplay.

Yes, Sega is the main developer according to the article. If it's anything like their latest games, it won't be that great.

well this is monumental, to say the least. well for those who grew up with both Mario and sonic, this should be the first step to something better. im guessing that people might not like the sound of the game at first, but give it time and all the original gamers will most likely pick it up just because. :P
