So, Halo 3 – the most anticipated game in Xbox history; you can feel the tension rising as we head toward autumn 07. But experience of the new levels, weapons and vehicles within this stunning next-gen Halo universe begins much sooner than that. Starting 16 May, Xbox 360 gamers (and only Xbox 360 gamers) will be taking part in the Halo 3 multiplayer beta event via Xbox LIVE.
If you’re among the gamers already registered, you can jump right in from 16 May until 6 June. The Halo 3 multiplayer beta features three maps: Snowbound, High Ground and Valhalla. These comprise large- and medium-scale locations that make their series debut in Halo 3. You’ll have the upgraded Assault Rifle to have fun with and the Spartan Laser to trial if you’re fighting the good fight. Choose the Covenant and you’ll get a taste of what the Brute Spiker and Spike Grenades are made of. You’ll also be among the first to ride the Spartan Mongoose all-terrain vehicle. Hoorah! Before all this takes place, however, everyone with an Xbox 360 can watch a behind-the-scenes video on Xbox LIVE Marketplace or via http://www.bungie.net. This truly engrossing feature is available right now. It provides a tour of Bungie Studios where we meet the talented (and very lucky) people behind Halo 3 who explain the ideas and powerful next-gen technologies involved. The programme is also a sneak peek at the multiplayer beta, as if you needed more fuel for your Halo 3 angst. Entitled “Is Quisnam Protero Damno!” it’s your chance to see a Halo 3 multiplayer level designed literally from the ground up. Remember, anyone who takes part in the Halo 3 multiplayer beta has chance to provide feedback for the Bungie guys’ reference while developing the game. In the war to save mankind everybody counts! Personally not a fan of Halo, I've played it plenty of times and it reminded me too much of the early Unreal Tournaments, which I found really bland. I am however open to the possibility that they actually made a good game this time with Halo 3... we'll see hahaha. And I don't think its worth it to buy Crackdown for the Halo 3 beta.. I played Crackdown for a while at my buddies, it was fun for a bit but nothing special. However if I ever got an Xbox 360 (which is always possible) I probably wouldn't pick up any Halo games, to me they are very generic shooters, nothing really special about them. I'm looking forward to Mass Effect much more. |

well, there's plenty of other legitimate reasons to dislike a PS3, and hating it for being popular isn't one of them, considering it isn't very popular at the moment.
anyway, that's the thing about Halo, Dave. rather than try something radical and new, they simply took existing FPS elements and nearly perfected them, in addition to presenting them in a simplified yet deep and persistently enjoyable way. offering something innovative or groundbreaking is certainly one way to make a good game, albeit risky, but it definitely isn't the only way.

I'm too impatient. I love Halo, but my passion is Final Fantasy. I bought a PS3 for a game that is coming out late next year, but I should have gotten a 360 so I could play Halo3. Oh well.
Getting my PS3, I saw how incredible the graphics were and how useful all of the features were. I think that Halo 3 would do better on a PS3. I would love to save money playing Halo online free, and it would be neat to move the controller for things like the Banshee and maybe if a Flood were to grab master chief. I have a good question: If the Archadian Empire and the Covenant got into a war, who would win? I think Archadia would.

the control for Halo is one of it's best features, so i don't see any need to tamper with that. graphically, the two systems are too similar to notice any real difference as well.
anyway, i don't know who the Archadians are, so i really can't say.
