First Reviews of FFXII: RW Hit Japan

The DS seems to be getting quite a lot of love from developers regarding new games and Revenant Wings is garnering a lot of interest from both sides of the pond. News today that Dengeki and Famitsu (Who else?), via IGN, have the first reviews of the Japanese edition of the game. Below are some choice comments for you. Three editors from the six strong review staff shared scores and opinions on the game. Click on the source link for more:

Misawa, a super hardcore gamer who likes western games, praised the good flow of the mission-based storyline and the ability for battles to be both simple and more involved.

Wakasama noted that from a gameplay system perspective, the game is markedly different from previous FF games, but it still feels like an FF game. He was impressed by the large number of characters who enter the battle, which, he said, offers the player a feeling of being close to the action, so much so that he found it hard to believe he was playing a portable game machine

Tarou praised the game's balance, which he said is perfect for a portable game. The only bad points he noted involved difficulties in selecting areas of the battle field with the stylus.

I'm thinking of getting it, however I'll have to see more footage before I'm 100% convinced. I just hope the battles are worth the play, and not a big let down.

Well I played FFXII so I might as well get this. But from what I've seen the game is pretty ace. Let's just hope it isn't another FFX-2.

As wiht all the upcoming FF games, I haven't been taking much of an interest in this due to the fact that I don't want to spoil anything.
But from the few things I have seen/heard it seems to be a decent game, and this news just seems to reinforce that to me. And coupled with the re-relaease of FFIII this makes me very tempted to go out and buy a DS.

FFIII unforunately had only one cg scene in the beggining. this one seems to be mimicing FFXII in that they have one every five minutes, so that seems cool. FFIII was good, but it just seemed unfinished. maybe some more interaction then just a remake.

Who cares about FFIII. FFXII RW WILL almost definatly be cooler. Plus it's a sequal to FFXII. After seeingh an ending like that I have to get RW.

I didn't think much of the ending of FFXII, it solved hardly any of the remaining mysteries. Such as, WTF happened to Fran?. which I think was a ploy on SEs part to make everyone buy RW.
