Final Fantasy XIII Project Not Exclusive To PS3?

Its been widely reported over the past few months that games supposedly exclusive to Sony and the PS3, have in fact become multi platform. According to Games Radar today, the various games under the FFXIII banner may not be limited to the PS3 and mobile.

Square Enix's Motomu Toriyama reportedly confirmed this, but supposedly the statements made were mistranslated. However Gamefront seems adamant that there will be XIII games on other platforms.

This means other games in the series (rumoured to be 6 part) will see other consoles, not neccessarily Final Fantasy XIII. He didn't mention Final fantasy XIII At all.

From what Dave wrote, it seems that only Fabula Nova Crystals will be the only one which won't be exclusive to ps3.

Yeah, the Fabula Nova Crystallis project itself is spread over different platforms, like PS3 and mobile. But the separate games themselves like XIII and Versus XIII will be for PS3.

I'm still running on a hand-me-down PS2 that works when it wants to, and a Playstation that we bought the week it came out, so I don't think expanding it to multiple new-generation platforms is going to tickle anything inside of me too soon.

heh, i knew it. FF XIII couldnt have been a multy console platform, because if the graphics in that game are so good, then putting it on things like the wii, would have it change all of its graphic code! i WOULDNT BE SURPRISED IF THEY DID, HOWEVER, put some of the spin off games on other consoles, cause they do that ALL the time, with all their compilations, just to screw with the game buyers heads >:O

I can only imagine what would happen to the PS3 if the whole FFXIII project went multi-platform... It would be a completely dead system a week after the announcement. Not thats its not already teetering on the brink

I would love for ff13 to be an PC. Even if they bollocks it like they did with ff7, cause that means I wont have to buy a ps3 any time soon!

Heres my analysis of it.

Final Fantasy XIII will be PS3 exclusive. Final Fantasy XIII Agito will be Mobile phone exclusive.
Final Fantasy Vs XIII will most likely end up PS3 exclusive, although thats still a bit in the air.
The other potentially 3 titles could be PSP, DS, Wii, or Xbox 360 games.

My guess is there will for sure be a DS game in there, and probably a PSP game as well.

There will most likely be a Wii game aswell IMO as it's been a while since there was last an FF game on one of Nintendo's main concolse.
If so then it's one I will *eventually* be able to get.

well, ive noticed nintendo tries to reserve FF games for its ports, rather than their home consoles, which they reserve for sony and there doodz. Infact i think the only ff based game for gamecube was Crystal Chronicles. Also, the sequel or whtever to ff CC will be on the wii, but rly, they tend to give most of their games to nintendo for their gba or DS. My theory is, the main two, (versus included) will be exclusive to the PS3, cause humanity wouldnt allow them otherwise. Agitos been confirmed for the mobile phones ( understandable). and the other confirmed titles would most likely be for either the DS or the PSP, because although nintendo gets alot of their port spin offs, the PSP is starting to get a share too. Or Maybe 1 for the Wii. But the 360 aint gettin nothin! (****ty microsoft wont get a dime from square!). *sigh* can any of you news reporters cover some info on ring of fates, i havnt heard from it in ages!

well i think FABULA NOVA CRYSTALLIS is already multi-platform.. such as is the case with the Agito being for mobile already..

however, I highly doubt they'd develop the same game for 2 platforms (eg to say FFXIII the core game) because that would require them recoding the entire thing for another platform other than the PS3, and the resources to do that to a degree where both of them are of an 'equal' are extensive enough for you to just prefer to make a new game.

There really would be no good reason to have an initial multi-platform release of any FF game unless it's one that relies on having a bigger player base (such as that of FF11, being the only truly multi-platform FF which is "uniform" among all editions as far as the content is concerned)

but i hope they don't go do something stupid like Revenant Wings again and take such a graphically artistic and breathtaking game.. and reduce it to a trashy 2D NDS game. It may actually play good, but its lost the whole FFXIII atmosphere already.

I agree with spira on the first part. It may have been possible to make multie platform final fantasy games for the last gen systems, because already, so many games were available through all three, like them Lord of the rings games... etc. But these new systems are so diverse, it would be just to much trouble for the company to remake each core game, just to accomodate to each systems limits. The only way possible for the other systems to get a bite out of the fabula nova, is if they release some of their yet to be known spin offs for those consoles.

however, RW cannot be branded as a bad game considering its not even out yet, spira, and the fact that id like a nice port sequel rather than the sequel being made for the PS2 again, kinda makes it worth it. Agito, wont be expected to have the same graphics style of XIII or Versus, yet u dont bang that. Lastly, XII was technically based on the ps1 game, which had similar cute 2d sprite animations, so rly its regressing back to its original glory. Heh, dirge for the ps2 had better graphics than VII originally, but do you think its better because of that? just cause two games dont have the same graphic quality or art, doesnt meen they dont have the same theme, thats why their making multie platforms of these compilations, to prove that themes can be used on any system. and on a final note, fabula nova crystalis, technically is quote " based on a variety of worlds and dimentions that originally dont have anything to do with the previous or herafter games innitially, but simply haVE THE SAME FEEL and revolve around a common goal"
