Default Square Enix To Reform Their Business Model

Nowadays it seems Square Enix are remaking their old games left, right and centre for various consoles. There have been countless cries, whether for the good or the bad, concerning an FFVII remake (In some quarters even VIII and IX).

Playstation Universe website have obtained news that SE, late on Wednesday night, on their Japanese website announced they will be working on a new business model- and it seems that this new model brings us one step closer to an FFVII remake.

The success SE have had with the remakes they have done so far obviously havent passed them by. It seems remakes and sequels are the future- not just for the Final Fantasy series but for their other ones too.

The one thing that worries me about this is that they're going to make sequels for a load of the old FFs that most certainly don't need sequels and ruin (partially) what were classic games.

I for one just want them to make a remake of FFVII, and then carry on the main series as they have been doing it since it started. ie, a load of random RPGs that aren't connected at all storywise, with videly varying themes.

No more compilation bull****. pleeeeease?

A alo say that old game are better left alone. I don't think there should be a remake for FFVII but if they could make a newer version of FFVIII with good graphics and not to change anything else other than that that would be cool.

You would want them to upgrade the graphics of FFVIII which are a lot better than FFVIIs graphics, instead of updating FFVIIs graphics. Why exactly? O_o
Wouldn't it make more sense to upgrade the graphics of the one with the worst graphics?

Anyway, if they're going to do a remake at all, they may aswell go the whole nine yards and provide it with voiceovers and any other extras they can think of aswell. As long as they don't do something really drastic, like altering the storyline.:P

Yeah, although I'd probably buy remakes, it would just make sense to keep making new games, with new stories, new characters and new worlds. How many remakes can they actually make, I mean, of course, 1, 2, 3 etc. because they were so horrible with the graphics now that you look at them now, and its good that they've brought them over from a less primitive console to something like GBA, but they can't keep making remakes like this.

Now when I think about it, FF7 would be the last one they should do, I mean, DoC and the AC movie are both in cool 3D, so why not add FF7 with the same graphics or better?

well at this rate i can forsee alot of FF games going under the knife..
I think the anniversary editions of 1 & 2 are the final ones..
but as for 4-9, those havent faced many major remakes before, if any..

If ff3 DS is there to set the new standard, and if the SE heads want to follow a new kind of progression, FF4-6 will probably get their 3D remakes too.. ala ff3 DS (tho i think on PSP would be more likely given some of their sizes) (Also i think ff3 ds wasnt that good because they tweaked with the job system too much.. but thats just me)

FF7-9 would also go thru facelifts probably.. with FF7 having a full remake to match the graphical style of the compilation of FF7 games.. and FF8-9 rendered in PS2 quality polygons.. 8 and 9 really don't need that many changes...

As for X and beyond.. with the start of X they seemed to have changed their way of making games, with each of them being really professionally planned and laid out projects. I see no reason to remake anything from the PS2 era onward...

Well I don't want SE to do anything to any of the old games other than improve their graphics. I really do like FFVIII so that's why I said FFVIII not FFVII. I didn't really like FFVII too much.

8 and 9 are fine the way they are. Maybe they could get some polygon upgrades for 3d models, but the games need to be left alone.

Wanna know what I think? Square Enix has gone crazy. If I were them, I'd just make 2 or 3 sequels of the same game of the franchise. But all of them? That's crazy ****.

How's it a bad idea other than they'll waste a year or two making it and it will cost them a ton of money.

Wow, my first post in quite awhile.

Anyway, I do not like the direction this series is heading in. If SE actually made good sequels/prequels I might support this idea, but from what we've seen so far, though not much(FFVII Complimation, FFX-2), I don't think I'll like what they're going to do.

I also don't think they should remake games that are already fine as they are. FFVII is my favorite Final Fantasy and one of my favorite games of all time, but I do not want a remake as I think the original version is already amazing, and a newer one might spoil some of the classic moments of the original. Not sure if I made much sense here, as I don't know how to exactly explain it.

What I want SE to do is to continue on with the main series without sequels, prequels, remakes, and all that other stuff. In 10 years, then consider a FFVII, VIII, or IX remake, and maybe some of the previous ones as well.

This new "business model" is a fake from a satire site that was just making fun of Square-Enix for always seeming to do this already.
