Halo 3 release date confirmed

It's pretty early in the year, with the summer months barely even on us, but the winter rush of games is already filled to the brim with Triple-A, must have titles. Bungie though, rather surprisingly, have decided to break with the common tradtion of releasing major titles during the winter holiday seasons, and it seems we're going to be seeing Halo 3 a lot sooner than we thought.

The company confirmed today in their latest press release that the hotly anticipated sequel to Halo series will be hitting stores around the world with a simultaneous release in all regions, bar Japan; the game will hit stores in the US and Australia on September 25th, and across Europe the day after.

Bungie will be releasing three different versions of Halo 3 for the 360 come release day (details here) the originally titled Standard Edition, Limited Edition and Legendary Edition, the last of which comes with a rather posh looking but sadly unwearable Spartan helmet.

I've already pre-ordered the Legendary edition. I think this might be the first time I've pre-ordered any game.

And yes, I'm pooping my pants in anticipation.

only reason I didn't post cause I already knew the release date would be in september when I preordered my game in early march.
