IGN got an interview in with Final Fantasy Tactics A2 producer Akitoshi Kawazu and director Yuichi Murasawa at the Square-Enix Party about the upcoming sequel for the Nintendo DS. Unfortunately I as many others will be disappointed on some of the announcements that FFTA2 will not support touchscreen or multiplayer.
This could all change perhaps? But they seemed pretty confident in their answers to the reporter. How could FFTA2 not have multiplayer? However they did mention that there would be some feature that would take use of the local connection. And no touchscreen support? It's a strategy game, so a touch and go would be ideal for this. I hope, as many others do, that they know what they're doing. You can read the full interview at IGN, where you can gain some additional information about the game. Source: IGN |

That's just a bunch of bull. This game will be horrible if it can't support wireless multiplayer which is practically what the DS is popular for. No touchscreen is a huge disappointment because what game on the DS doesnt offer that? Might as well stick it on the PSP then because it can at least have nicer looking graphics.

That kind of sucks it won't have online play. One of the reasons I'll be buying a DS is because of the online play. And no touchscreen support? Isn't that the major thing that separates the DS and PSP? They could add a lot more strategy to the game if they were to use it. They're either being lazy, or this isn't valid. Hopefully it isn't them being lazy. No touchscreen support will make the game pretty boring, in my opinion. |

I agree with both of you, the great advantage of the DS is it's compatibility with other systems and Touchscreen. This game was probably being launched for the GBA originally and since that one's pretty much obsolete they just decided to transfer it into DS. What a shame...

The only reason i got a DS was because of the games to be released for it. But i see no reason why the FF rpgs arnt to be released on the psp. theirs absolutly no advantage for them to be on the ds now!

I don't think they're putting as much effort into their games any more. Back in the day, they used to only have 1 or 2 games going on at the same time, and they were always classics. Now there seems to be so many, and they aren't reaching the standard they set with their older games.
Not having touchscreen is just so darn lazy. And not having multiplayer is just a kick in the pants to us fans who have always wanted to fight a friends clan. I'm not too impressed with their games lately. They seem to lack what the other games of the past had. |

I hated the ds's Dula screen system, most of the time, the stylus would be completely in affected, at times between screen touching and button mashing, so id be forced to use my thumbs!, but a nice rpg, wwhich is turn based and allows time to be taken, would be perfect for a completely controled touch screen gameplay. Infact its the only genre that would work!:dizzy:
