Yea, but atleast X-2 was a game on its own, and not a ****ty remake of a classic. Its like re making raiders of the lost arc (south park reference)

And what's to say the remake of FFVII would be ****ty? There are a lot of flaws in the original that could conceivably be solved by a well-executed remake.

They should just reprint VII for the PSone. I want my own copy (I use my brother's).

It's already on the PSone and you can get it for about 15 bucks at the right places.

I maintain my opinion that they're throwing away a shot at some easy money. No matter what Nomura says, the game would sell, and sell big by that right.

I'd probably buy a remake. I love the original game and all, but if I had a choice between replaying the original, or getting a remake, with way better graphics and better gameplay... It's a tad obvious, isn't it?

So you're saying you'd Square rather make ****ty sequels than remake classics? Frankly, I don't see your logic. I would much prefer a remake of a well-known story like FFVII than another craptastic piece of **** like X2. And in point of fact, X2 was NOT a game on its own. It was a direct sequel. It wouldn't exist (or make any sense at all, for that matter) were it not for FFX.

The remakes, from what I've played of them, have held true to the originals (with the added bonus of better graphics and extra features).

I think remaking some of the older stuff is ok.... to a point. and if you do too many spin-offs of something, then it just starts to become unappealing to people. a lot of the older games have awesome stories, they just didn't have that great of graphics, perspective, depth, you get my picture.

Im saying that Id much rather see another on its own, sequel to Yuna and her friends adventures, than to have classics be remade several times and "fixed" whenever a new platform comes out just to make money. That guy above was right, square would make a load of cash if they did that, infact if they made FF7 remakes every two years theyed rule the worlds gold supply!

Exodus has got a really good point. If they were to make it, it will come quite a few years after the realease of XIII and Versus. SE is quite busy in making their remakes and spinoffs and compilations. They're just now about to be able to release crisis core. As I see it SE seems to be trying to make profits so as to be able to even create something as big as FFVII remake. In the interview Nomura had said that if there are fans waiting for it and employees wanting to help remake FFVII they won't proclaim "the end" so there is still some hope. One of the biggest things I'd like to for the remake would be some voice overs.

No matter how many people whine and complain about wanting a Final Fantasy VII remake, the SQEX staff are currently overworked with multiple other projects and many staff members are going to and from various development divisions and some of the staff members have said that they - quoted from "Bear" (or what I call Bear's Half-yearly e-mail reply) :

"Wouldn't mind remaking VII, but then we'd have to remake VIII and IX. So it'd be all-in-one-go type thing and currently with our project list affecting our workload it is not possible. Adding three remakes onto the list and the staff will complain even more about not wanting to do so much work."

Overall the main reason it would sell is because the majority of people that call themselves "Final Fantasy Fans" nowadays jumped onto the wagon with VII and the end result was of it being highly over-rated. The original series ended with Final Fantasy VI - all of the staff and even Nobuo Uematsu was quoted saying that.

To the side that they're all working their asses off in the main Japan building so much so that the staff haven't even put any of their jokes or easter eggs onto paper or in the script. Hell, it takes them a month to just get the ending dialogue so adding that to all of the games they're working on which is over twenty on various platforms and having some slackers like Moriya if he's still there to make Nomura flip out and shout about how he's been attacked by people demanding a VII remake.

My opinion: Give the staff a break and stop asking for a remake, they're busy with too much work to do with to little staff to do it.
