Tetsuya Nomura has spoken to Japanese gaming magazine Dorimaga and issued a direct denial that an FFVII remake is on the way. IGN have some choice comments from the interview which you can see below and read the full article at the source link.
Nomura comments: "It appears that there are often overseas rumors like 'Are you currently developing a VII remake?' My apologies, but were absolutely not making [such a game]." However, maybe there is light at the end of the very dark tunnel for all of you who are eager for such a game. Yoshinori Kitase, overall director of the FFVII series, had this to say: "However, when we ask the staff who are making FFXIII why they entered the company, there are many people who say, 'I'm an FFVII fan, I also want to do a remake.'" Nomura added to this: "We of course know ourselves what the fans want so we'd like to continue thinking up a variety of things. As long as there are people who want to make it and people who are waiting for it, we don't want to proclaim 'the end.'" So a flat out denial with some back peddling! Nomura and Kitase also talked about FFVII and how it could have turned out very different according to an early game plot Hironobu Sakaguchi had made which Nomura claims to still have: "I think he wanted to do something like a detective story? There was a character called Hot Blooded Detective Joe." The Midgar city was already in place at this point. The early part of the story that was written by Sakaguchi involved Detective Joe chasing after the main characters, who then blow up the city. Read more at the source link! Source: IGN

Well, they exclaimed the compilation to "not quite yet be over" so if theres no remake, than what is there left after crisis core? i would very much like to atleast see a 'the end' of the series for than ppl would stop complaing about rumors.

All this interview does is further my conviction that Square Enix loves stringing us along. |

I could of sworen that I read an article in PSM about the remake. I think someone is giving out misinformation or he's just playing with the FFVII fanboys emotions.
Either way, I bet there's some poor Sephiroth or Cloud fan stroking his or her action figures and crying their eyes out. Oh the joy.

Yea I guess your right. I have to admit, it's a good business stradegy because it continues discussions related to their business, and that's always good for a business.

Lol, I agree with Spira. After all Squeenix has been so cheap lately that all they are doing is living off their franchise, if they are re-releasing the original Final Fantasy for PSP (previously released for GBA, and PS1) I do not see why in a future we shouldn't see a remake of Final Fantasy VII. What has one got to do for good original games?!

Meh, I saw this coming. They're doing what they did last year and the year before. If we do get a remake, it'll probably come out, oh I say, five years after Final Fantasy XIII and Versus.
And I've no problem with a remake so long as they don't **** up the story and fix the translations. |
