The Anniversary Edition of FFI for the PSP is going to be sold at a Square Enix party at the San Francisco Metreon on June 26, 2007 at 6:00PM, according to the website Siliconera. At the event theyll be selling the said game plus giving a chance to try out Final Fantasy II before it is released on July 24th. As usual for these sort of events, the first 100 will be receiving as yet unannounced goodies exclusive to the party.
Some screens of the game for you here, plus more details at the source link. Source: Siliconera

After looking at the screens on Silicon era, I'm actually quite fond of the updated graphics for this game. Although it's only cosmetic changes (yet again ¬_¬) and one extra dungeon, I'm seriously considering buying this if I ever get my hands on a PSP

I honestly dout that the adding of one minor side dungeon would be concidered much of a change beside HD sprites. In the GBA DOS, It was the only game in which i got my characters all the way to lvl 100! i dout that the new dungeon could go beyond the limits of my PC's. However, compaired to the remakes going on with the ds, for FF. I rather like the detailed sprites more than the chibi polygons. And although most likely i wont be purchasing this article, as i am one of the many ppl who bought the GBA remake not so long ago, and dont want to play the game over again for the 50th time on a newly bought platform. I might, however concider getting FF2, as when i played DOS i neglectfully threw away the Blood sword, and failed to train a decent healer for the final boss. So you could imagine how frustrating that part of the game was. Especially if i wanted to see the ending and play the rebirth side dungeon -_-

"For every floor, you get the option to seal certain abilities of yours -- for example, no flee command, attack halved, no dash, etc etc -- in exchange for a certain amount of time. When you enter the floor, you have to complete it in that set time limit or else your HP/MP will start getting drained and you'll start encountering some really nasty enemies. Each floor is a puzzle dungeon of sorts - you have to find the trial, complete the task it asks you to do and then head to the exit. Each floor's "task" is usually a puzzle or an objective that gets harder as you get further into the dungeon. At first it's fairly frustrating, but as you go on and learn the dungeons it's kind of fun. Early objectives are fairly simple, such as wandering through a maze while lighting candles, or playing a little tune from memory, or following a ball of light. As you go on, they get a lot more ridiculous." and "At the end of the Chamber of Time is, of course, a boss, and once you beat him you get the option to re-play any of the individual levels you've already completed. (there's 30 different floors that you'll get at random, but there's only ten floors in the dungeon) It also assigns you a clear time and a rank for how well you did. All in all, it's a fairly replayable dungeon if you want to get every floor in time trial and some cool gear." I'm actually looking forward to the PSP release although I played thru the DoS version rather thoroughly.. and theres also an art gallery that can be fully unlocked if you play through the game at least twice (using all the 6 different jobs i think).. which is rather interesting incentive.. |

Well, The new dungeon seems like the wacky antics, of every side dungeon ever created for the gba remakes of all the ff games, ( Finding a toad in a 5 mile medow, or trying to get through a room full of ball room dancers). Which also, might i add, were random rooms, inwhich it was hard to get a proper walkthrough, because no dungeon entrence was ever the same! The handicapp and time trials, just seem to be frustrating like Genos maze, which would only be forgivable with some godly ammounts of gear ( how can you best an ultima sword!?) The art gallery sounds like a fun addition to the free beastiery and soundtrack player which you get at completion of the gba ports. But its hard enough getting the patience of completing the bonus dungeons let alone the bonus bonus dungeons... I wish square, would remake Super Mario RPG for their anniversary, that would be cool.
P.S. could anyone send me some screens of what Garland looks like in the new FFI for the PSP? Plz...

Thx anyway, i found some screens of him shortly after i posted that message. Is it just me, or is "The Great Garland" being more of a pansy boss in every remake? i meen he was nasty in the original, than he got watered down alot in the gba remake, and in this one the dude beat him in two rounds! I guess now hes more funny, with the editors keeping his arrogant trash talk in the game "Whos there!?" lol, im right behind you! Who knows, one day, he Will knock us all down.... One day...
P.S. i dont remember that silent hooded stranger in Cornelia... is that a new addition? Who is he?
