Dissidia: Final Fantasy video in the wild

The Square Enix Members site has kindly posted up the Dissidia trailer screened at Square Enix Party 2007 last month.

You'll need a members account to view, so if you can't be bothered to weed your way through pages of Japanese text to sign up, French gaming site Jeux-France is hosting the video as well. The upcoming Final Fantasy 20th anniversary title, which is now all but confirmed as a head-to-head fighter, pits the good and evil of Final Fantasy against one another in a battle to save the world from decending into chaos.

In the video, we see (and hear) the four characters that have already made their presence known in the various magazine scans of the game. As an added bonus, it also shows FF7's favorite silver-haired baddie emerging from a wall of flames.

No release date has been given for the title, and the trailer simpoly states "Work in progress". Dissidia will be released on teh PSP.

Looks pretty nice. I'm guessing it's a vamped up fighting game with new and old FF characters. I wonder how many fangirls creamed their jeans at the site of Sephiroth at the end.

Eeerrrcchhhhh!!! I don't have a PSP!!!!! There's probably no chance for a PS2 release seeing how they didn't like the idea of split screen.

Notice how the music is blended with some of the themes from the Final Fantasies. Especially the ending notes with Sephiroth.

wow. Nifety! im toldally sold to get a psp now! But whats up with Garlands sword? its no longer a saber, it now looks like a combination of Banryu/ Advents detachable one O.o badass none the less! Also note how all the characters pictured were originally based on amanos drawings, as you can see in one of their scans, yet, he was soley based on the 8 bit sprite of him :nerd:

If you check out any other FF or game site on google, and view its forums thread on this topic, you immediately get barraged by all these trash talkers on the series, like how their Whoring sepheroth to much, or how PSP Sucks and we will redicule anyone who gets one, or how, final fantasy in general is dead and their just attaching the trademark logo on anything to make it sell better. But i thought this would be a game to somewhat save the series, it has characters from all the games! Hopefully fanboys will get their precious kefka! But i for one am counting on Gilgamesh to atleast be an unlockable character

very interesting.. i like how kuja and zidane both can switch into trance mode..its like a 1v1 crossover battle in the FF series..
their voices were abit surprising tho.. kuja sounded abit too manly and zidane abit prepubescent >_>

Because 1. Its the anniversary and they want to celebrate all the FF's theyve done in the past, and 2. this game is a super smash bros style RPG fighter, where some crazy dimention opened up and the best heros and villains of the different FF worlds have been summoned for a gient Pokemon the first Movie Beat em up brawl! WOOT!

Because... that's kind of the point of the game. Nomura has said they're trying to include as many FF characters as they possibly can.

I must say, I was looking forward to this from mere screenshots a month or so ago. This trailer totally sealed the purchase for me... now to buy a PSP.


I hope the likes of Kuja and Sephiroth become playable characters in some form of dual feature (hasn't read into it yet).

Yeah, one can easily drool over scans or pictures, but the trailers are the real 2nd thought provokers. Like i was so sure i was gonna hate final fantasy IV DS, but now im not sure, ever since i saw the awsome video ( which i havent seen appear on these forums yet)... sigh... thailors....

Anyways, You can easily find out, from this trailer, what will be available game play wise. Firstly, you can tell who the current player character is by whoevers name, stats, and headshot are pictured on the bottom screen. So, if you look closely, you nottice that in the duel between kuja and monkey boy, that the two stats switch in one part, meaning kuja is playable, so that means the other villains would be too. Also if sephiroth is in the trailor, chances are he will appear in the game, lest he just showed up to say "hi"

Well, im at this games beck aNd call, so to all you great reporters on this site, i ask for you to cover any scans or videos or interviews on who else will be a confirmed character to appear on this game TY
