New info on the next Chocobo game for Wii

For those who missed the announcement back in May, Square Enix is working on a Wii title featuring everyone's favorite avian adventurer, the Chocobo. Chocobo's Dungeon: Toki-Wasure no Meikyuu (The Labyrinth of Forgotten Time) is to be an action RPG taken to the next level by incorporating the the interactivity of the Wii-mote. The game is tentatively schedule for a winter release in Japan.

Now for the new news...

According to the latest Weekly Famitsu, the game will star Chocobo and Cid, who must enter the City of Forgotten Time, and, with help from a boy named Raphael, must help restore the memories of the city's residents.

Dungeons will be randomly generated (ZOMG, no maps to download off teh interwebz?!) and will involve quests to locate the people's memories and the usual boss fight fare. Chocobo's Dungeon will also make use of a job system with approximately 10 different job classes to choose from.

The Wiimote can be used in either vertical or horizontal position, and the nunchuck add-on will not be needed.

Ummm...just wondering, when you say Cid, which Cid are you talking about...? Theres a Cid in every Final Fantasy game so its kind of confusing just to say Cid is in it...first one that comes to mind for me is FF7 Cid ^.^

But ya, this game sounds like it could be cool. Luckily I got a Wii recently.

Yea, it'll be the FF7 Cid, I'm sure. He was the only main-character and playable Cid wasn't he?

Regardless, I can't see them making spin-offs of anything but FF7.

Firstly; What makes you think that it will be a cid from previous games, and not another new one? 2nd of all; i hope the graphics wont be paperish, like that DS one. thirdly; if it has a job system, twould be humorus if it was for the chocobo in question. And Last of all; is it just me, or does the non- Anthro chocobos in other games look ten times cuter then the "Franklin" style cartoon one

They didn't say specifically which Cid it would be. My guess would be that it's an all new Cid, seeing as there's a Cid for damn near every FF game in creation, and this game doesn't have a connection to any particular FF (aside from the earlier games in the Chocobo's Dungeon series... there's at least two others that I'm aware of, both for PSX, I believe).

It looks like it is indeed a new Cid, and there's also a picture of Raphael. And the Chocobo is the one who can change jobs. XD
