XIII andVersus XIII's new trailer made public

Recently following square's crazy festival, information has leaked into the media concerning their new releases. (as always)

Youtube has uploaded new trailers of both XIII and Versus XIII into their archives and are publicly viewable on these links:

Versus's new trailer sets the main character in the last place where he left off; surrounded by armored soldiers firing upon him on a set of marvel steps. This time the trailer shows him dealing with the grunts in a continuous action scene.

XIII itself, still appears to be seperated into mixed clips, but it does show us some extra pieces to the jigsaw puzzle; the main character, Lightnings fighting style continued ( throwing graviga bombs etc.), The esper Shiva transforming into a motor bike, and the appearance of a new character.

Both are set in a "Future-Tech" Final fantasy setting.

I knew I had seen Shiva in there somewhere. it looks freaking amazing, and I honestly cannot wait for them to come out. I'm a pretty patient person if I want to be, and right now, I'm like so anxious to play it. I think that deserves an amazing looking game award in my book versus looks awesome too..... it's like he has an armory floating around him or something :P

Final Fantasy XIII trailers must be listed under "kickass" in the dictionary, or something.

Eh, the Versus XIII trailer was less interesting.

I'm pretty sure the nickname for the new character is "Mr. 33cm" because that's his shoe size, and that is all the people at Square wanted to reveal about him.

But that XIII trailer.... WOW! I can't stop watching it! I mean, you could give me the game, and I'd just be like hang on, I'm watching the trailer for the twenty-second time.

^hahahaha, I'd be all OVER the game though. it'd take a sec to register in my head that the trailer that I'm watching is of the game right in front of my face, and then it'd be like a rabid wolf or something.... god I want to play them.

Hm, I was wondering when someone would remember the CLOUD DVD...

Yeah, "Mr 33cm" is the nickname for him at SQEX, his design was based off a previously scrapped design or two for Sir Seifer Almasy (some of these designs were from VIII before Irvine was created).

But there have been some changes, like in the Prince's car in Versus there is no radio broadcast, instead they've put in a television and have cut the audio so his name isn't released (but no doubt it will most likely be "accidentally" leaked by a staff member soon).

I knew that character design looked really familiar. XIII is starting to remind me alot of Karas. What with the monsters transforming from machines. Behemoth transforms into a car lmao.

I saw these a while back, but still, I can't wait. I can't wait for Versus. That part where he is falling down the wall and he stabs that guard. I think that is the first blood we've seen in a Final Fantasy.

Actually an earlier Final Fantasy had blood in it, many of them have been edited in the European releases. Taking into account of Final Fantasy VIII - Ultimecia's Castle; Armory, the green blood was originally red (and in some versions there were a few dead White SeeD members programmed there), Final Fantasy XII - Noah Fon Ronsenburg / original Judge Magister Gabranth has blood splatter on his armor and his face and there was originally more gore in both games before they had a final edit so Versus should not have any restricted ratings as SQEX have had other games with more blood/gore effects/filters built in and they still had the normal age ratings/restriction ranks on them around the world as the general Final Fantasy series.

Garland, the Behemoth transformation was one that they had an old design for a robotic series of the Final Fantasy monsters but they decided to scrap it and the transformations is another little bit of homage to some of the staff member's favorite shows and/or favorite childhood manga series' once more so it does make sense. I believe that some more scrapped redesigns will be used in this for summons' and their new looks and character artworks and there should be some more promotional art coming out (apparently one of the new promotional images is undergoing some changes currently) soon.

I don't mean to nitpick but the 2 trailers you're showing are not leaked trailers. They were the ones that came with the Dengeki Cloud DVD and were originally screened (closed theatre) earlier this year, if Im not wrong, at TGS.

So, these aren't "new" nor are they leaked. The most recent trailers were the one screen less than 2 weeks ago at Jump Festa. The one for XIII is said to feature the actual summoning of Shiva by Mr. 33cm as well as Carbuncle by pink pigtail girl. Don't expect those to appear anytime soon tho.

My bad. No, these trailers arn't from Jump Festa (i wasn't there) They did appear recently though, even if they were viewed months ago.

First FF game with blood in it was Tactics. They had it by the gallons suprisingly for a sprite game. Blegh!

I believe these 2 trailers are not the ones shown in the closed theaters, it seems the ones that are shown there have alot more new characters and new scenes.

i saw these videos about a month ago; downloaded them too in high quailty. if i rememeber correctly these trailers came out in a japanese game magazine called Cloud before the tokyo game show. i think they were the 2007 E3 vids or the 2007 TGS trailers. the ones shown recently at the Square Enix Party or whatever it was back late December were in closed theatres and not yet released to the public. anyway here are the contents of the Cloud magazine:

Which one are you guys most excited about? XIII or Versus XIII? Me personally, I like both, but I cannot wait to play in a really dark Final Fantasy. So I'd say Versus XIII. That music they play really lifted the action in some really sorrowful way as well.

visually both games look good. both games are taking full potential of the PS3's graphics. but thats about it so far. thing is i dont want to get too hyped up for this game or make to high expectations yet. after final fantasy x the series has been slowly been going downhill. its been nothing but remakes of the original 6 titles of the series and corney spinoffs. at least for me it's been that way for me.

to sum it all up. the trailers visually look good and all but i'm not really counting on this being the next big thing like FF7 or FFX.

Well, I'm expecting them to be good as the majority of the original staff members have been requested to work on the Fabula Nova Crystallis project, Nobuo Uematsu is back for the main theme compositions', Nomura and Amano are working on the art together again... the majority of its development staff are those who worked on the originals and the most popular ones (also the majority who vote against Yusuke's changes to the games) so it should be good as the larger coverage of this section of the series covers plot issues and other idea issues that have been scrapped in the past and/or during production of the first game and it conveys many new and old ideas for reuse so nothing is wasted... plus it shouldn't feature a few over-fanbased characters that reappear to entice their fans....

*Shrugs* I have a fair few reasons to look forward to it, but with the staff I know working on them... I expect them to be good.

well i just hope that versus 13 actually sticks to what its supposed to be "a fantasy based on reality", i remember last month it was announced on this website that there will be airships in versus 13... i hope that thing looks like an A380 atleast...

I think they should stop making spinoffs and remakes as well. The more new games, the better I say.
