Your dad really like FF doesn't he?
I think Ultemecia would be a really interesting character. I actually want to play as Kuja too. I like is design.

i wonder if the villian list is really as people specualate.. i mean.. I've seen the poster and all, and how people were able to pick up some characters in the first place puzzles me. but I guess we'll just have to wait for announcements to see if they're all correct or not...
I'm holding out on the following match ups from 3-7 (the officially unannounced ones)
Luneth v Xande (i pick Xande because he's the real orchestrator of the whole FF3 plotline. CoD was only there to serve her role as the ultimate darkness. Compare this to Kuja vs Necron.)
Cecil v Golbez
Bartz v X-Death
Terra v Kefka (i picked Terra here because she truly is the main character of the story, tho some might say Locke is as well.. Terra seems to me, to be the greater protagonist here because she is directly involved in the whole Magitek/Empire business, whereas Locke is just a 'treasure hunter'. I also chose her cos I thought a female protagonist would be nice)
sometimes I also wonder if they'll pull a surprise on everyone and add characters from XI and XII...
and if they did.. i'd probably match them up with
Warrior of the Crystal/Champion of Dawn vs Shadowlord
and
Vaan or Ashe vs Vayne (LOL at their names)
I liked Ashe more really, her struggle in the story was more obvious.. Vaan was just in for the ride.. but i doubt they'd add 11 or 12 in anyway.. but just getting false hopes XD

Well there was a good photo of the Amano Promo Poster floating around and if you compare it to the original Amano artworks of the characters it is very easy to tell which character is which on it. With the characters shown on the poster and some not even being shown in official artworks or gameplay videos other than the cutscenes/FMVs'... or even on the website gives us the assumption that these characters will be featured as bonus characters which would please the overall fandom of the series instead of just relying on the old, usual "Sephy VS Cloudy".
And that would be great if they did, I personally hope that they do include some characters from the newer ones.
So, I agree with that Spira.
((Well for XII, you never know if Balthier were to show up as he constantly claims he is the Leading Man.... and Basch was supposed to be the original Protagonist instead of Vaan for XII until they decided that nobody would like an older protagonist - in contrast to responses to characters such as Auron for example within the series' fandom)).

Are you saying that you think all characters who have not been confirmed yet are bonus characters? I don't think so, there is 10 v 10 as was told I believe. Meaning that 10 heroes and 10 villains that will appear in the story, and any other bonus characters like Vincent of Seifer they will add just as unlockables or hidden characters.
I reckon Terra would be suitable to face Kefka in this one. When you think about it, Kefka wanted to destroy the Esper world, and helped do so, and Terra is part Esper, meaning she is the one who would probably be, well, the most #$%$#@ off with Kefka. Even though I also think Locke or Edgar would be good, even Sabin. Cyan would be an interesting player too.
I reckon they are just keeping the others under wraps because they like to stir some excitement and anticipation. Wheras, I use Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 as an example, they gave away 99% of the game's information away, they showed fans all the new characters and stages etc, and then playing it wasn't that fun and lots of people refused to buy it because they saw everything in the game and knew that they shouldn't buy it. So secrecy is better. And I think secrecy is better anyway, always best to be surprised when playing the game.

Not all of the characters that haven't been announced are bonus/hidden characters.
But if you look at some things, they've announced a few characters BUT on their official site there is no information other than in the trailer of which Tidus appears in - no details about characters from Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy VII or the other games between II and VII. Other than the characters which were shown either in the trailer or in the Amano Promotional Poster. Meaning that they will be adding in more characters, most likely those who have been shown in any promotional images will surface sooner or later (as Dissidia is only about 50% complete so not all characters have been added as of yet) BUT they will not be releasing information on which characters will be appearing as bonus ones as they did not release information on Ehrgeiz featuring Final Fantasy VII characters other than some minor references and in the background of one promotional picture being another reference to the game and certain characters.
So with this and Budokai Tenkaichi 3 as an example, not to mention many other Japanese programmed and published fighting games as other examples of what Square-Enix should NOT do.... I believe and hope that they will not announce or show all or any of the bonus characters.

Yeah, I heard a rumor somewhere that a Judge from XII was to be somewhere in the game...I wonder if Gabranth is a bonus character?
I reckon they just haven't gotten around to it, and will update the site later. They probably want to leave some stuff to add so they actually have stuff to add, keeping the site fresh and updated.

I think a lot of people mistook Garland for Gabranth earlier on.. cos of the similarities in the armor..
10 vs 10 does seem like a small number of fighters. I'm sure the UMD has the capability to include more characters..
maybe its officially 10 v 10 cos of the 'story' they'll include.. but all the other characters will be secret / bonus..
for some reason I really hope it will be something like a Smash Brothers affair FF style.. and that they'll come up with a sequel to dissidia on a more powerful platform with more FF crossovers and so on.. but i guess this is the first step toward any of that

10 v 10, but it will have customisable equipment, and that always takes a chunk out of space. Like soul calibur. I could see the inclusion of a couple bonus characters, but i dout they will be so bold as to add more than one character from one game, such as tifa or vincent. adding crossover characters would seem less bias and more logical.
And yes, i've studied the promotional poster a little harder and can see everyone. Kefka is to the right of the logo and he's upside down (lol) and cloud of darkness seems to look more like a snake haired woman. ( she was probably added due to the lack of females, one must stress that it's not just last bosses, it's KEY rivals and antagonists, Seymour was really Just there! I see him as a recurring boss not unlike Ultros, Tidus's father was Tidus's Rival and had everything to do with the story, and may play as a bolder character in Dissidia's story as a sin controled protagonist. Both CoD and Necron were kind of Deus Ex Machina's in my eyes, but Xande's a guy and i guess having a bunch of guy mages around gets repetative)
Also, i heard rumors that Kain would be the ffIV hero. Locke's a nice character but spira's right, he almost had nothing to do with the main story, and has a lesser grudge to settle with Kefka than Terra does. Also, terra's limit in the game could be to transform into her esper form, which seems a lot better than to use Locke's patented steal ability. FF XII just isn't in that final fantasy generation, it wouldn't make sence to include any ivalice characters in it.

If there were bonus characters from any of the games, I'd have to play a bet on these characters:
FF1 - Astos
FF2 - Leon
FF3 - Xande
FF4 - Kain
FF5 - Gilgamesh
FF6 - Locke, Sabin or Edgar
FF7 - Tifa, Vincent (Zack, maybe tekken style: alt costume, same animation, moves)
FF8 - Seifer
FF9 - Beatrix? (interesting female character)
FF10 - Seymour, Auron
