Many reports and opinions seem to throw vitriol at Microsoft- ill be honest, im with you guys too- i cant stand the xbox either.

That said, Sony were unable to hold on to the exclusivity and Square Enix were able to make the game multiplatform, im sure with a financial incentive from Microsoft.

Sony, Microsoft and Square Enix should share some of the hate. Square for reneging on the exclusivity, Microsoft just coz and Sony for being idiots for not holding onto the rights.

RedCloud: I know what you mean, my friend is "Brick-Obsessed" and as soon as I head back to school all I'm going to hear is her screaming about "how totally sweet" it is over XIII being desecrated by the Brick... (that's really going to mess up stopping my daily urge not to strangle her >.>; ).

Blizballer: That's what I've been seeing over here, however the release was not to deal with "installed numbers" of consoles and seems to be purely done for money (probably to get the losses they suffered due to the China sector of Square-Enix making a couple of poor take-overs in it's smaller offices around the country and due to that, the budget for a production was going to be canceled - supposedly Agito but with the proposition from E3 it seems to be back on schedule) and people have been referring to this proposition with sales of the Metal Gear Solid games - they've been comparing them a little stupidly via sales between MGS 2 and MGS 3 AND THEN comparing them to Final Fantasy X (I don't know about it, but all I can really say is... my stupidity radar seems to be going off about that) because Final Fantasy is in the fifty million and more category for the best selling video game franchises whereas Metal Gear Solid (to my memory) last time I checked, it was still in the twenty million category which is a second category to the first in which the Final Fantasy series is in hence making those comparisons void from what I can remember about franchising and commerce.

But I know what you mean by sharing the hate.

((I found this post-it-note on the clock in my house - Not allowed in my house list ~ The Brick (BoS) "If one enters the house - brought by visitors/guests, take the correct action by the use of a sledgehammer." Hahahahhahaha!!!))

I am constantly cranky.

If I had to buy one of the consoles now, I'd still go with the PS3 due to the amount of bad-hardware/glitchy consoles over here (not just the pre-ordered ones but more than half of the bricks' over here just will not work properly at all) and other than the current Patch/Firmware issue on the PS3 (the update that crashed (also known as "Bricked") many consoles) I have not heard of any issues with the console - even with the limited amount of the first releases we received (apparently, ours cannot read Blu-Ray properly because "America needed parts" *Rolls eyes* but they still do play Blu-Ray even though we were told they wouldn't) over here. But that is just my opinion.

But I am glad that an interview with Kitase and Hashimoto revealed that they are still planning on having Versus XIII still a world-wide PS3 Exclusive, but with their recent announcement of XIII being multi-platform... (It wouldn't hurt them to have Star Ocean IV: The Last Hope on PS3 even though they have said that they have no plans for it, which is what they said about XIII being on the brick.... )

But they refused to say why they chose to end the exclusive contract in exchange for a multi-platform contract. From the looks and sounds of it Hashimoto said that their relationship with Microsoft was just fairly recent but they are not announcing if it will feature any online capabilities as that would just put a damper on gamers and/or fans in the whole if in the end they changed their minds at the last minute and they would not want another Final Fantasy X issue.

[Also, why I call the X-Box and X-Box 360 console "the Brick" or the "BoS" is only a pure reference to the many issues and glitched versions we have received over here and other complaints I have heard or seen about it in actual action which has influenced me not to buy either of the dammed things.]
I wouldn't say it's doing bad, it may not be outperforming other consoles by large margins but besides Japan the xbox360 is doing well worldwide. I didn't understand your reasons for not liking the idea of the game going to the 360 as well (bold part), may be particular to folks in Australia?! MS has mostly fixed the issues the consoles were having with the new chips, don't if they have arrived there yet but even so a 3 year warranty will cover it for free if anything was to happen, still kind of a hassle though and I can see how one would want to avoid it anyways but still not a reason for this game to stay away from this console.

From your comments I think you have some kind of personal agenda with Microsoft, you sound quite biased, excuse me if I'm wrong. From my perspective, I couldn't care less what company does what, as long as the games I like are in any console I may end up with, the more consoles the more choices. I may actually have to choose one console this time around because university is too expensive, costs add up so that's why the 360 looks like a better alternative at the moment, with the difference I can buy a book Apart from that I'm also a programmer and I've been doing some XNA programming in Windows so that also makes the 360 an attractive option since I can port any game I make to the 360 with no extra code. I like the PS3 as well and if they were the same price I'd probably choose the PS3 over the 360 because of the free wireless adapter in the ps3. For ps3 owners these news doesn't hinder you in anyway, you still get to enjoy the game so that's why I'm baffled, it seems to me this is more a complaint because something good is happening to MS rather than specific to the game itself.

The consoles themselves are still not working correctly even with the repairs over here, I am not biased all I have been stating has been the repetitive issue within most Microsoft products of not working properly (even after the correct repairs have been done officially or if the product has been replaced). I program and build up computers from scratch and have also taken apart various consoles to repair them and even after repairing a few Bricks and Microsoft products properly they still didn't work, sent them off and they were returned to those who commissioned me to fix them and guess what...? They still didn't work. All I can say is, there was a lot of enraged people over the issues and Microsoft responded with the basic "It's not our fault the product doesn't work." line - which is why I personally wouldn't want any of my friends' who actually bought a Brick to waste their money on XIII as it probably wouldn't even work properly, just this week one of my school mates upgraded from her old Brick to the 360 and decided to put in a brand new game and the entire thing crashed as soon as she turned it on and when she called customer service - she also got the basic response on the line and she was absolutely devastated and she had said that she would never touch a PlayStation over a Brick but after that and being a loyal person to the company, receiving that reply and having a faulty product that she could not return (she tried and they told her that the warranty was void for some reason which they said - without telling her why and that she could not return it for a refund), instead she is now absolutely enraged about the E3 Live announcement that I showed her about Square-Enix's choice after the issues with the new Brick.

Overall, I'm not being biased... I'm being logical with all of the due complaints and issues I've seen with the console to the side that we've been ripped off on ALL of our consoles over here (we've been getting shipments LAST in the world on video games and electronics, but we're now starting to get priority shipping due to high demand and sales) so with that said, a lot of PlayStation 3s' here won't even play BluRay discs properly or they have more backwards compatibility issues than what happened in Japan, America and Europe.

Before we got some (a very small shipment, a couple hundred originally) received in Australia that could actually read them properly but most will not read the BluRay discs properly - again from what I've seen and heard so overall there are issues with a release of the game for either console as the majority have and preferred their Sony product - the PlayStation series, some tried the Microsoft product and found the many technical issues overwhelming and decided to boycott the console and the company's products and decided to stick with Sony only to discover the issues in the products in which we received - that were missing internal parts which were taken out "because AMERICA NEEDS PARTS. Because Australia is OBVIOUSLY the ass of the gaming world. *Rolls eyes*" when from what sales and surveys have shown that our gaming demand, even though we have less in our country is creeping up to overtake America's demand which has apparently been in decline and has gone down further with the economy issues.

Overall meaning: with the mass of issues still arising in newly received consoles that we have been told that the issues have been resolved - meaning they should not be happening BUT they still ARE happening. However the majority of our consoles WILL NOT even be able to play the game UNLESS we actually get all of the parts which were removed instead of waiting for the "80 Gigabyte" release that "features" BluRay reading capabilities.... basically Australia's majority of installed consoles are screwed either way so there is a fair amount of reason to why RedCloud and myself are rather frustrated about this due to the reasons I have mentioned above and almost all gamers have migrated to Sony and Nintendo - many of which have stated because of the products (hell, I got my DS and PSP just for some of the Square-Enix games announced and was just about to go and buy a PS3 just for XIII and Versus XIII the day before the announcement to risk not having one be able to even play the game - once released - before I have to manually fix the damn thing!)

Too - Long, Didn't read; Basically either product is seemingly faulty here in Australia and is also greatly known to be faulty/glitchy in other countries even though the world has been told that the problems have been solved and that they would not happen anymore however it is still arising and the complaints and servicing in some countries still does not resolve the issue and this was also seen in some of the earlier versions/product releases which caused some gamers and/or buyers to boycott (mainly) the Brick and Microsoft products and moved onto Sony and Nintendo products instead - that is as a majority. Due to consoles received here missing internal parts that allow for things to be read or for them to work properly it seems Australia and other countries are going to be at a loss for the game(s).

Personally, my experience with Microsoft products has not be good at all and can coincide with what I have seen and heard from many other people (in Australia and around the world) in comparison to all Sony products I have had which have never had any issues whatsoever (even when many gamers in America via magazines or blogs complained about the products and did the reverse to what many others did - went to Microsoft products instead). So that's just a basic answer to why, attempting to not be biased but I was just giving my opinion and those of others.

I think Microsoft just can't hack it that Final Fantasy has stuck with the PS3. They were just scared that PS3 would sky-rocket in popularity around the time of Fabula Nova Crystalis releases.

It really comes down to the point that the Xbox 360 has $%# all popularity in Japan. I don't know of many Final Fantasy fans that own a 360 though, most of them have stuck with consoles that they know will have FF games on them. Like me, since the good old PS1 days I stuck to the PS2 because of Final Fantasy X, then I bought a DS because FFIII and Crystal Chronicles (which I never ended up buying) and then FFTA2 which I'm still saving to get. Then the PSP, which I originally wasn't going to get, but because my brother wanted one, I couldn't just WATCH him play Crisis Core and Dissidia now could I .

Now the PS3...hope they have a massive price drop. Oh, another thing, the next-gen game ridiculous prices. If games now cost about $99, $110 Australian, then I wonder how much FFXIII and Versus XIII is going to be?

True, plus Gates did just step down before the E3 and a few other things.

That's for sure, my friend from school (who had the new Brick issue) asked the Japanese teacher if she would by one and the teacher's response was "What's that? Is it like a PlayStation?" XD

They did have about three or four price drops, but we're also supposed to be getting the versions that we were promised repeatedly before the six to nine month delay which resulted in us getting bugger-all.

The guys in EB Games and Game (Wizards) have said that they're going to be costly but the prices are going to have a major drop soon - the only reason it's been so expensive still was due to the demand and sales on the console and games doing really well.

Well, like I said, I can see why you may not want to have a 360 I simply don't understand why you wouldn't like FFXIII going multiplatform. From the problems you tell me the console has there, I can see why you want to stay clear of it and indeed you don't have to buy the console now either because FFXIII is still coming to your ps3 either way. I see no loss here. I had my ps2 failed on me soon after I bought mine after launch, and it was indeed frustrating, although I just bought another one. All this news means to you is some more people will get to play the same game as you, and SE will make some more money.

Because it just seems to me that people will waste their money with the Brick version of the game which will be stretched across only the Staff know how many bloody discs and all of the issues that happen with that particular console here and in other countries still is just going to be an absolute waste because around half or more are going to buy the console to only have what my classmate/friend had and was told by Microsoft that she was basically screwed.
Besides Sony products are generally easier and cheaper to repair in comparison to the side of the Bricks which we are continually told that we're screwed if we have just bought them.

What I'M pissed off about was the Staff repeatedly saying that they were not considering the Brick and the staff stated firmly that they felt that it would not suit their needs hence the exclusivity of the contract to Sony, which they had written up before the PlayStation 3 mock-ups had even finished production for the final product to be exported and personally from what I have heard from Jay
- EA Games - is that he's not impressed with that either and said and I quote "That it also gives the company a bad image again for going back for what they have publicly said via press releases, overall it's the fans that buy and are going to buy their products. It doesn't count for numbers of whatever console is installed by the fans thoughts do count because they are the ones who have stuck to the series and have been buying the products that fund the company itself but by suddenly changing from what their divisions' plans were against some of the Division Directors opinions just causes trouble inside and outside the company. Sure they may think "Cool, we can make more profit now!", that might turn out to not be the case now after an angry fanbase - the fanbase is huge by the way - possibly decides to have a mass boycott of the series. Imagine if across the hundreds or even thousands, hundred thousand fan sites all began a boycott against the series. What happens? Profit goes down. Profit goes down, Stock will also probably go down. It'd be a repeat of what happened before they joined with Enix. I mean hell, sure I have an X-Box and a 360 but I don't agree with changing ideas once it's been announced officially multiple times, especially if it goes against the majority of the staff and against the fanbase as two worst-case scenarios could happen: 1) The staff argue, resulting in them walking off the job, quitting or being fired or 2) the global/mass boycott I mentioned before. Seriously, I feel sorry for my mates over in the company right now."

Basically I have been trying to explain that to you but Jay has explained it perfectly well in an e-mail, to the side of what I said earlier - people have been comparing sales and installed console effects on other series such as MGS but it is in a different category and therefore cannot be used for a comparison. I mean, you stated that basically "More people can enjoy Final Fantasy" - they already could - Microsoft only had a small contract with them for Final Fantasy XI and that's all the staff all agreed on, the the side that people have been making unofficial ports for the Brick over the last few years, not to mention the other "devices" people have been adding onto gaming consoles' for so many years or have been using emulators and I know this for a fact (after having a group of Brick fans staying as guests at our house on multiple occasions much to our dislike brought out their consoles which is how I learnt of this) so you cannot tell me that people with either Brick console "could not enjoy the series" when in fact they already could not to mention in comparison to any of the Fabula Nova Crystallis projects being on the Brick - the staff disagreed then and are disgruntled by the announcement.

Too Long, Didn't read: I personally see investing in a Brick here and in other countries in which there are still many issues arising - as a waste due to the many problems and whenever those arise the buyers/owners being told that "Their warranty was void" and couldn't send it back for repairs, not even some game stores will accept the return after being told that even with a receipt and some people have been lodging complaints over these issues to consumer affairs (which I have just sent to my classmate to lodge her complaint).

To the side that I am very disappointed with the company as a whole for repeatedly making announcements that they would not consider the Brick console as it was not to their ideas, some staff members also personally did not want it either and others just found that they could reuse some programming from being used to programming basically on the PlayStation and PlayStation 3 instead of having to convert everything to work on the Brick meaning that it would have been overall easier for them as some of the staff use Mac/Apple computers instead of the basic Windows system for Crystal Tools meaning that either way they already had to convert things to work and now they have to convert more things - overall giving them an even larger workload to already overworked staff members.

this had to go out to the idea of a remake for VII coming out on the 360. if that happens, i would take over the world, and F!*KING dystroy microsoft. the only reason that stupid system is still on the market is because of HALO. proof enough the thing was crappy

plus at the time, VII was only for playstation. I dont think that sony is going to let go of THAT particullar game. in my opinion, that would be a game the would by the system solely for.

so for the XBOX, i just dont think it will happen.
