Final Fantasy IV gets ANOTHER remake

appearing on the Japanese site for Square Enix, apparently Final Fantasy IV will be released AGAIN, this time for mobile phones.

But what once seemed to be a compressed port turns out to be much more preened and polished than first expected. The game reverts back to it's original 16 bit Sprite style, however, the overall graphics look much more slicker then what you would expect from a direct SNES port. Indeed, upon closer inspection, you will notice the battle sprites appear more, lively, larger almost to the same proportions as the sprites from the Sixth installment in the franchise. The graphics may also be directly ripped from the recent sequel: The After Years... But there appears to be something else. The game also seems to be borrowing more from it's GBA predecessor than from it's DS one, as the Lunar Trials have reopened, one can expect to find all the bonus content from the GBA remake, and hopefully more, as this version seems to be mirroring the PsP remake of I & II. Huh, go figure.

I've come to realise I love FF4, though the DS doesn't do it justice. I wish I bought the advance version while it was still in the shops.

when i read the address i was 0_0 but if it a mobile game then im like -_-
it's really a waste of resources tho the game deserves much more but not in this way...

garland if u wanna leave or if u r so busy to do your moderator job, it's easy just come while you are free every now and then...

how would it be Final Fantasy without Garland???? ^^

On a phone? Might work, but I don't like playing phone games.

Again guys, this remake does NOT look stripped down. It's graphics look very enhanced, the battle sprites look fuller and have details like expressions on their faces, and the content seems to stem from the GBA's, we may possibly even get more content and perhaps errors and glitches in the GBA may be fixed upon.

In fact the game looks strikingly similar to The After Years, and need I remind you that The After was originally a mobile game, but was later ported to the Wii over here. This may have the same effect, because porting this to the DS with a DS version already in existence would be awkward.

I say leave V and VI alone for the moment (especially for those who want VI remade before V), the other games from the PSX era need to have their chance at a port first. I don't want VI repackaged for a while until the series has had another go around.

Gotta try out FFIV. Been hearing a lot about it. That's actually the next FF I was going to play after FFV, until my data got erased. Oh well, I searched the final boss battle on Youtube anyhow =D.

They have to promote FFXIII because it's the new FF game that's coming out, and may I say it looks extremely realistic and very interesting. I'm most likely going to get it. Also, even though FFVII will remain to be the most popular FF, I do agree that FFVI should get a 3-D remake, but what are the chances of that if they aren't thinking of remaking FFVII anytime soon? I still would like to see it happen, though.

Am I the only one here who thinks the classics have gotten too many remakes!? I mean come on. IV got bumped up at least six consoles now. I and II have gotten even more attention, and even V and VI have given players more chances to play them, then VII-IX. VII's been played the hell out in merchandising not through ports or remakes, but through spinoffs and sequels, but it has never got an honest to goodness enhanced port.

I say, give VI some sequels and spin off's and give VI-IX remakes!

Yeah, I guess they have been a little overdone. IV has been on SNES, GBA, and the PS1, and that's just off the top of my head. I guess it's because they're a bit easier to remake, what with just sprite-based graphics and stuff, while the PS1 remakes would have to have a whole lot of graphics enhancements for the PS3 crowd... Looks like it'll be a while for a remake of the PS1 FF's, considering all the other projects Square has.

I think that all the sequels of VII were just a one off, unfortunately. It's not like there'll be another big FF anniversary any time soon... VII was special, basically, so it got a remake. Maybe because some of the characters weren't quite as well-explained... but you could say the same about Terra's past, Cecil's, Zidane's, etc. Who knows, I guess.

Damn I forgot i didnt finish FF6 I'm still playing on the PS wait when i think on it I got Collection,Anthology Collector's edition but I dont have Orgins....

Don't bother with origins Chaotic, FF I and II have been ported from the NES to the Ps1, Wonderswan color, two mobile phones, the GBA, PsP and either the PSN or Wiiware.
You'd best either pick up the Dawn of Souls Remake for the GBA (if you can find it) if not you can always buy both I and II for the PsP separately.
