Square Enix's TGS Booth
Square Enix is showing less and less support for Sony and its Playstation franchise. This year at the Tokyo Game Show, Square Enix has been showing off many Nintendo DS titles, including Front Mission First and Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings. Square Enix's compilation Fabula Nova Crystallis: Final Fantasy XIII still made an appearance. The trailer shown for Final Fantasy XIII was basically a mix of E3's version. A few new scenes were thrown into the mix, however. There is still no official release date set for Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, or Final Fantasy Agito XIII.
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII also makes an appearance. The latest installment in the Compliation of Final Fantasy VII was only shown in trailer form. It shows a few characters, including Zack, Aeris, and Sephiroth, along with a battle. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII is announced to be released sometime in Spring 2007 in Japan, but no speculated date has been announced for the United States.
The recently announced Nintendo DS game Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings was only available in trailer form, but the remake of Front Mission First has a Winter 2006 release date set in Japan. Still no word on a United States date, if any. Subarashiki no Sekai: It's a Wonderful World is playable at the Tokyo Game show and will be released in Japan sometime next year in Japan.
The much anticipated Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix + for the Playstation 2 also made an appearance. The game is both a remake of the Gameboy Advance title Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and a rerelease of the English version of Kingdom Hearts II. The Final Mix version of Kingdom Hearts II will feature new battle and map gimmicks and new event scenes. Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix + will be released in Japan in Spring 2007 and hopefully soon afterwards in the United States.
