This has concerned me for quite a while now, I'm doing a 'All-flying' Challenge on FireRed, and I decided I needed to get a Gyarados so I could surf basically, and because he was flying type.
But the thing that bothers me is why he is flying. I mean, he does have any flying attacks, he isn't described or shown as having the ability to fly, so I'm just wondering why he would be attributed with the Flying status. Btw, NEVER use Golbat, ~_~; |

So he CAN fly then? I've never seen it in the TV Anime (then again, a vague memory of 3 flying with Misty comes to mind..)
I know they are supposed to be a Dragon Type, Lance uses them like wildfire >: Maybe if it was supposed to be caught in Vermilion City, and it were a Dragon, it might of been too powerful .-.; |

I feel like a dork for knowing this, but....
In the movie, Gyarados could only "fly" because Mewtwo was holding it up in the air with it's telekinesis like all the other pokemon. It's so gay that he's flying type. 1.5 damage multiplier with an electric attack from Pikachu, ftl. ![]()
