Default PlayStation 3 Owners

To tell you the truth, I've been dying to get this forum open so I could find some others that have a PS3. I need to expand my buddy list a bit, from 0 to something haha. None of my friends have one yet, they're all waiting until more games come out (a good call).

So who on this forum actually owns a Playstation 3? We should exchange PSN IDs and play some multiplayer sometime

I don't own a PS3 but I laugh at the people who did buy one with all the problems the PS3 is having at the moment. I laughed when I was at Target and I saw they had some of the $600 PS3's available and no one was crowding around for them

You do realize 360's launch problems were ten times worse than the PS3's current problems, right?

From what I hear, Resistance multiplayer is very sexy.

Xbox 360 had just as many problems as the PS3 had. Some of the problems have been fixed in Firmware updates already, some more are coming.

The PS3 is an awesome machine, I really really like it, and definately am glad I have it. However, if you're waiting for more games to come out before buying it, I would agree with you. Right now my biggest complaint is having to wait for games for my machine, Resistance is an amazing game (definately get it) but after a while I want to play something new lol.

It's definately worth the 600 bucks, especially if you already have an HDTV (i'm buying one later in the year)

Considering most of the launch 360's had to either be replaced, or sent to Microsoft for repairs, I would say that Sony's problems were considerably less than Microsoft's. Has Sony given the PS3 the ability to upscale yet?

I have a PS3! Awesome, I was looking to find more people who actually had one already also.

It was definitely worth the 600 bucks for me! It just goes totally awesome with my new flat screen HD TV.

I already signed up for NetFlix and am enjoying watching Blu-Rays on it too!

MGS4 is supposedly not a PS3 exclusive. This topic has kind of branched off into a completely different coversation, so I'm going to make a different thread for PS3 discussion.

I decided to play it smart and surf ebay for mine. Saved a heafty $40 on a nice 60GB version, even after S&H. It hasn't come in though (ordered it 3 days ago), but once it comes in and I get everything all set up I'll get back to you on my PSN handle and all that good jazz.

Awesome.

I need some information. PS3 comes out in March, here, and I was wondering if you could tell me a bit more about it. Are ps2 controllers compatible with ps3 titles? Are the games region-encoded? If not, can the ps3 play foreign ps2 titles? Does it use memory cards, or store data straight to the machine?

That is all.

PS2 controllers are not capatible with the PS3. The PS3 has a hardrive so u can save it straight to the machine. for PS1/2 memory cards u need to buy an accessory to connect them to the PS3 via USB.

i have no idea about the region coding.

Backwards compatibility used to be broken (PS2 and PS1 games looked terrible) but they fixed that problem in the last patch.

There is no slot for a PS2 controller to go into the Playstation 3 (there are USB slots at hte front, and the Sixxaxis is bluetooth).

Unfortunately if you want your saved data onto the PS3 hard drive you have to buy a little adapter, I still have to get mine.

Right now the interface is nice looking, but lacks a lot of the functionality that is in the Xbox. Apparently in March, they will release a massive update at the same time as the PAL launch, which will fix multitasking issues, as well as add a kind of iTunes store which you can download music / movies / etc.

Right now theres a PS Store that you can download Demos, Downloadable Content, and Movie Trailers on.

The upscaling hasn't been fixed, but Sony confirmed there is a scaler in the PS3, I'm not quite sure why they haven't fixed the problem yet though.

I'm definately looking forward to some future firmware updates though, Online gaming is still very well done, I've played games of Resistance with 40 people in it without any lag. Its extremely fun.

I don't have a PS3 personally but my boyfriend has one and I've had a go on it (along with his HDTV). Played Resistance and RR7.

I quite like the sixaxis controller, it's much lighter than the PS2 controller and the demo downloads and store I find quite good.

I don't think I'll be getting one myself though, it would be a bit silly for both of us to have one, but what I'm looking forward to most is more games coming out for it.

I have a PS3, and in fact, I was one of the campers who was in line for about 9 hours. I don't play online yet, because my parents don't think I'm good enough. (crazy people) But still, I love it, because I crush all of my friends who come over to my house every day since the PS3's release.

Okay, I finally got everything all set up. My PSN name is Razre. In fact, I'm writing this entry from my PS3. It finally came in. Anyway, call me up.
