Default Your role model?

For many of us, there are people we meet, celebrities we discover, or famous writers, philosophers and thinkers, etc., who inspire us in some form or another. People who make us look at things from a different, often new perspective, or affect our lives by the good (or bad) examples they give us.

Who is / are your role model / models?
More importantly... Why?

It can be anyone; your favourite writer, a teacher, even your next door neighbour. Whoever you think fits the bill.

I'll post a list later, when I have the time.

Kurt Vonnegut, easily.

He watched, as far as I can tell, most of his family die around him, and I know he still died with his humor. He defied sometimes his own wishes and never committed suicide like his mother did, and he wrote like I hope I someday can. Hands-down my idol. Much stronger man than a lot of people might think.

Kevin Smith.

The guy is the most wittiest and funny guy I've ever seen. Paved the way for indie film-makers.

I haven't got any role models as such, but as an artist I admire many of the old masters, George Cruikshank, William Blake, Gustave Doré, James Jean, Jim Lee, Josh Kirby, and many many others.

As a man I'm inspired more by fictional characters than anything else, like Spider-Man who taught me a valuable lesson about responsibility and never giving up or the Batman, who taught me to cling to my grudges and turn them into a one man war.

I've never really been one for role models personally. I can't say I've ever respected anyone or what they've done enough to consider anyone a role model, really.

I have no interest in basing my life off someone else. There's people I respect, but no one I want to be, per se.

My role model is my mum. She has devoted her life to me and my brother, every problem thats goes by she is there to support us. If it wasn't for her I wouldn't be around and I just can't give her enough praise for what she's done.

Thanks mate, I appreciate the support.

My role model? That would have to be Ash Ketchum, because you have to catch em all, no matter how ugly, stupid or smelly they are. Also for catching them young, since once they get older and evolve they will stop listening to you.

My role model is an Irishman named Michael O'Connor. One of these days I hope to have as much success running message boards as he has experienced here.

But seriously, most of my role models are people like Henry David Thoreau, Leo Tolstoy, Mohandas K. Gandhi, Martin Luther King, and so on. They managed to achieve positive social change through setting a good example and without resorting to violence.

George W. Bush. he tells it like it is.

Seriously my Role Model would have to be Mark Twain. Had a wit about him and Arthur Tesla. A real genius who's revolutionary ideas were beyond even some of our own time. Gotta love the guy who came up with the death ray. Also Bill Hicks who did tell it like it was and didn't sell out no matter what.

When I was playing high school football, my role model was Scott Bentley, kicker for the Florida State Seminoles. Then my role model switched to wreslter Mick Foley. Right now my role model is that guy that can drive a nail through a board with only his hand. That was totally awesome.
