For example:
OCR for short, also known as
OverClocked ReMix.
Home to a fair few good remixes, good debates and good artwork.
I lurk there on my account, never get the time to post or upload any remixes or WIPs.
They give out some great quotes on there, spend my time on there mostly laughing my ass off.
Here's a good one for the topic of Final Fantasy VII and the idea of Lives:
Gollgagh ~
"If you were a bad-ass, top-ranked soldier that wanted to become a god, would you care about the name of some half-assed cocky little sh*t that just tried to stab you?"
Retorted by Kupernikus ~
"If you were a bad-ass, top-ranked soldier that wanted to become a god, would you forget the name of some half assed cocky little sh*t that just tossed you over a ledge when you ran your sword through him?"
Just like another argument on a parody site, they have some awesome quotes and remixes on there too.... *rambles*
Overall this topic can be seen of: what is your opinion of the Remix (minor changes to a song, but almost the exact same as the original), Arrangement (re-writing a composition for different instrumental arrangements or genres) or OCR's coined term ReMix (a remix or song greatly based off a composition but presented in a completely different format, which cannot be called an Arrangement or a Remix - hence ReMix) scene?
Personally I like it, as most of the good musicians are coming out of the Video Game industry by standards and the good people from OCR have provided some nice updates on some older versions. Plus they can put up some rather funny stuff.
So far, one of the longest arguments I have seen on there was about beer, Gilgamesh, Garland, The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny, Karaoke and theories about God.
I don't think it's still around though sadly, probably was deleted in the overhaul....
Anyways, thoughts? ((And no, I am not trying to advertise their site. I'm just wondering on the overall opinions about the whole scene. OCR Seems to be a good example)).
