I thought this game was really well done and quite fun to play, no? I loved how it had plenty of side quests and the story was pretty lengthy but not boring. I think Square Enix somewhat copied this formula again for FFXII. It was kinda similar. So, what do you think of this game?

Probably my favourite game of last year, it was nice to play an old-school JRPG (very much like the first BoF games) with a last-gen makeover. The graphics were a joy to see and exploring the world was one of the best aspects of the game along with a solid soundtrack and decent voice acting that puts the likes of Grandia II and FFX to shame. Only issue I had was there was a but too much repetition to how the story unfolds, especially for the first half of the game.
At the last dungeon of the game now after almost 60 hours and still enjoying it as much as I first did and although it'll be a change for the series I'm very much looking forward to see what Level 5 do with DQIX on the DS. |

This game is awesome. It's been a long time since I played a good ol' RPG that's got an old-school influence. I had a choice of playing KH2 or DQVIII at the time, and I went with this game.
The story is straight up no bizarre Square/Anime plot to it, so you're not left confused or trying to be impressed by crazy weird stuff, such as Memory Witches. You're out to recover a Kingdom and its Royalty from a curse. There you go. It's got that challenge. It reminds me a lot of the Lufia series, where I bet the DQ series probably inspired it. It needs more music, though.

Being the first DQ game I've ever played, I don't really have anything to compare it to... but it was certainly worth the investment. The story was great, the characters were great, and even though some of the battles made me want to throw my controller across the room, I had a lot of fun with it.

It had that old school feeling to it. Like you were going back in the day to play it. I loved that feel. It was entertaining to play and to look at. The graphics were not bad at all.
Voice overs were done well and the story line was obviously well thought out. I recommend this game to anyone who loves classic RPG's.

Darkness Seeker: Please give a little more insight into your posts. kplzthx
I've never played any of the old Dragon Quest games before, so Dragon Quest IX was my first. There are many differences from Final Fantasy which is the RPG series I've played the longest, but it was still a great game. Great story and characters, though it was a bit more difficult than your average RPG. I still haven't beat it either, I'm gonna have to restart my game and complete it one of these days.
