Is their anyone who ever played the Drakengard games or Drag-on-Dragoon as they are called in Japan and mabye the US to, i don't know.
Anyway i have played both and i don't really like the games. The battle system is fun but the story is the worst ever in both of the games. They are so empty. |

I've played a demo of Drakengard 2 in a OPM a while ago and thought about buying it because I really liked the battle system. The demo didn't get to any story line stuff, but I assumed it was just cause it was a demo. I didn't really like the way riding the dragon worked

I'm trying to remember what that game was about. Is it the game where you can actually fly and fight as the dragon? If it is that game, then no I've never played it. So is it worth a rental or should I stay away?

You forgot to metion the other wicked-rad features such as disgustingly poor AI, cringe worthy voice acting and a plot thats as dull and in-depth as the Sega classic "Golden Axe". I'm sorry, I hate to be ripping on your opinion, but this game actually makes me angry....very angry indeed. It was fun for the first half hour of gameplay, and I'll admit that the flying missions were enjoyable ( weaving around the airships and enemy dragons ) but it let itself down with its AI and execution of an extremely shallow plot. It looked good, it had potential, but the end result was like the work of a group of drunk Squaresoft ( Final Fantasy ) rejects addicted to crack, who stayed up all night watching "Dragonheart" and had the game finished by the wee hours of the morning.

. It was a fun game <3As for the game, I've spent plenty of hours on Drakengard 1, got four endings, didn't want to spend (waste) the time to get all the weapons for the final ending / levels. I might buy the sequel once as well. In the beginning, the game looked / felt awfully dull, repetitive, and poor in quality to me. But as the game progresses, the levels' design becomes better, the story (weird as it may be) starts to grow on me, and I want to know how it ends <3. In the end, it's a pretty entertaining game if you can get over the weird music, repetitive gameplay, etcetera. Wouldn't spend the full price on though. |

I said it was a Sega classic. It was a fun game, incredibly fun, but the plot was probably thought up within five minutes...on a toilet seat. That said, I still have my copy of the game and my first Sega Mega-drive. The music and the Dwarf made that game. |

The blood in Drakengard sucked. Effective use of blood splatter effects can make a game that much more enjoyable in my opinion. Like in Medal of Honour, there isn't a single drop, which is ironic seen as WWII is one of the bloodiest conflicts in our History, along with the other conflicts portrayed in the games.. Metal Gear 2 however had some great blood splatter effects, I remember feeling slightly sick after I held up and shot my first soldier ( it was the sound of the blood splatting against the wall ).

Drakengard games are pretty good, they remind me of Final Fantasy and the Kingdom Hearts series but with a slightly different system in comparison.
I liked Drakengard over it's sequel game, as it was the original game from Square-Enix and Ubisoft and/or Cavia. (Though again, getting the sequel for free was interesting, the copy I have of it was a review copy from a friend who formerly worked at EA Games and had just come back from Japan - visiting his Former and Current Square friends). I liked it, especially with various effects such as the blood splatter. THAT effect/filter was one I had been waiting for years for. I was disappointed when Aerith (Aeris) was murdered and there was the lack of blood and in the American/Europe release of Final Fantasy VIII the blood in the Armory was recolored green unlike in the Japanese version where it was uncensored to be red... it was the lack of the game being censored which made it even better for me over the annoyance of nearly every game we get from Square-Enix Japan has been censored (Take in Kingdom Hearts II; Organization XIII: Member VIII - Axel, his death was censored, flames didn't shoot out of his body and he didn't have any dying flames). Although some of the camera views were bit of a let down in some places, when you would usually be surrounded in places like tunnels which did annoy me slightly. Although sometimes I did find the voice acting to be somewhat tedious. Otherwise I liked it, even though the storyline did seem to be a bit obvious in some parts of the games.

Drag-On-Dragoon / Drakengard is what we are talking about. Though between them there are some references between the two games, very minor references though.

The Original Drakengard was a load of bull. I absolutely HATED it. I mean srsly, you have to wait until Caim has power-walked enough to actually start running. Caim is an alright peep, but I disliked that everything was really horrible compared to the second game. I'm probably so biased against it because of the special ending, which really pissed me off. I mean, ****ing seriously. You play a ****ing ghey game with a little ****head statue for three hours just watch Caim and Angelus get shot down by a jet. I have to ask, What the ****? :'(
Drakengard was really disappointing after playing Drakengard 2. However, Drakengard 2 had it's share of disappointments aswell. Suchas the super****e Nowe orb. You'd think that it lets you access the form he fights the final bosses in, but noooooooooooooooooo, it just puts a ghey thing on his back and makes him blue. /end silly rant

Derek, I must fully and wholeheartedly agree with your last post.
It drove me insane, just playing the disc that one of the SQEX guys snuck out for me even made some of the staff themselves say after some comments that they said that they could have done it a lot better. I hope that if/when they make another Drakengard game they actually do it properly - to how it would actually improve it even more so instead of just letting us watch various forms and other pieces only in the form of the dammed cutscenes!

all it was was pressing the square button 2 or 3 times then triangle to do a finishing combo thing or running at the enemies and knocking them over and lastly just fire there ass. there was no point to the other weapons (they made no real difference) and the flying on the dragon was fun for the first 5 minutes
as for the storyline not too horrible but the gameplay was so repetitive and boring i almost cant believe i made it through the game (didnt do any extra missions that were available). so my opinion rent it if all the other types of "this type of game" are out and this is the only one of its kind there and only if your really dying to play one. |
