Default Cross or Trigger?

Yes! I'm the first person to make this unoriginal, repetitive question that crops up everywhere! So, Chrono Cross or Chrono Trigger? Which do you prefer?

I haven't played either...

EDIT. That's a lie. I played thirty minutes of Trigger and got lost on the world map, believe it or not.

I used to think Cross really rocked, but when I returned to it months after playing it last, I saw the unsmooth graphics and the battle system and said "no... I prefer Trigger to this any day".

I really like how many characters you can get in Chrono Cross. I don't remember exactly how many you can get, but I know it's a lot. I think I liked Chrono Trigger better because of the story and the better battle system. They are both very good games however.

I believe the amount of possible characters you can obtain in Chrono Cross is 36. However, the developers deemed it necessary to add in little annoyances such as: if you get a certain character to join you, there is another character or two that you cannot get. That means, in the end, you will not have all the characters available throughout the game.

some of the optional characters are completly pointless to get too. i like the ones that are worth getting in your party through sidequests and all.

You can get them all in New Game Plus with the Chrono Cross if you play through three times, but I never bothered, despite playing through several times on New Game Plus.

Anyway, I prefer Chrono Trigger, but only by a hair. Chrono Cross would have been the better game if the second disc hadn't been a pile of ****, tbh.

same here. the ending sucked and i'm reffering to the real one after u have to play some melody thing during the final boss.

The ending wasn't what bothered me so much as the fact that they decided to reveal half the game's plot in a lengthy bit of exposition right before the final battle, and that resulted in the last disc being confusing as hell.

then theres the fact that they included the three main characters from tirgger making cameo scenes towards the end of Cross, and you know who was talking.

but overall Cross is a worth while game to play. I thought the music and graphics were simply amazing. And i really did like some of the philisophical appoach to parts of the storyline.

I liked both of them but Cross' battle system made me sad. I don't know I'm still playing through it but it's just odd with the magic. I liked Trigger better overall because I liked the characters and the game play, it's still one of my favorites. I also liked the fact that you could beat the game at different times and it had so many different endings.

yea the final boss had nothing to do with the game's storyline regardless even if u played trigger.

but overall it was a good game. but stii, i enjoyed trigger even better for a bunch of reasons. its the only game ive played that
the main character dies and you're allowed to beat the game without him if u wanted.
Hmm, I've not played Trigger but I did play Cross and... Well I didn't like it that much. I mean, it was ok but not something I would've played twice.
