Lightbulb : )

I hope that the remake does happen, but of course I'm not keeping my hopes up. I'm not really that bothered to be completly honest. Final Fantasy VII on the PS was brilliant, I don't need anymore satisfaction, even if a remake would be nice.

'Twas just a technical demo to show the PS3's capabilities. Square is good at getting people's hopes up.

Not really considering AC wasn't a game, but a CG movie.

I personally would love to see a remake of FF7. There's so much raw emotion in the game that can hardly be expressed by speech bubbles and primitive 3D.Think of reactor No. 2, the forgotten city, the temple of the aincients. And the graphics... Imagine the final fights, revamped with glorious next-gen 3D... The supernova attack would be a sight to behold. And the deaths, the victories. The things that can be done with next-gen would do so much for the game. The game itself would attract a whole new generation to the game, as well as selling out to the RPGamers like me and you.

And if they don't bring it out before 2010, they might as well pack it in now, becuase some of the latest games are atrocities.

Peace out.

Who cares if Final Fantasy is on PS3 or Xbox, not all have a choice of consoles they own but do have a choice on games they buy, would feel wierd to play FF on anyting other that a Ps Control though... a remake of Final Fantasy VII would be Square Enix gift to Mankind, everyone would by it, they would make billions and it not so difficult, the scritps already there, I just hope they would keep the characters anime look though...

Once FFXIII is done we will see info on the FFVII remake and/or sequel. My assumption would be they would use the same engine/character designs as XIII and V-XIII. Save money, and speed up production.

Nomura still has Kingdom Hearts to finish, so I can't see a remake for a long time (since they want the team together). However a sequel that continues after DOC (Secret Ending), and wraps up some of the end events in CC left unanswered, is where i see this thing heading next.

I'd like to see the original released on PSN with a new updated dungeon, hard mode, better translation, and a few extra tidbits to tie the compilation together in preparation for the sequel. Leave it in tack for the most part. It is why we loved the game so much to begin with.

Well, I guess there are negatives in remaking FFVII if you think about it, firstly to be an exaxt remake will only graphically entise us and there's be no real surprises, imagine the next Final Fantasy after XIII to feature Aeris in a different world, requiring Clouds help to return etc etc, maybe a sequal to VII would be more enticing, I think most people would in some way have loved Cloud to feature in all Final Fantasies is some way (as per the Chocobos), so it's time for him to return, he's been the best character is the series so far.

In the end XIII will have to do the trick to realy keep the franchise alive, the videos and pictures I'v ssen so far looks quite interesting, let's hope not to be dissapointed...

I disagree. It isn't time for Cloud to return and although I would love to see a remake to be honest its probably best they didnt. One of the main reasons FF is as successful as it is today - beyond the graphics and soundtracks - is the fact that the characters have (for the majority of the series) been fresh and not overused. Each numbered final fantasy is a new installment with new design, characters and stories. A sequel where Cloud starts again at level 1? no thanks, I'd rather they allowed us our memories than corrupt the classics with remakes. I'll always remember (and prefer) a 2D cosmo canyon to a 3D one O_o

Although a remake is extremely tempting, why tamper with the classics which defined the best series in the role playing genre?

I think we are all just trying to recreate that feeling during our 1st run through (or 100th depending on who you talk to) of FFVII. We were tied to the characters, immersed in the story, and confused on the ending. Most haven't really had a game to match that since (I played sick multiple times from school so I could play it). I doubt a remake will help that cause. I was 15 at the time, and played some great games since (not counting FFXII... that game suxed, and could be the worse FF ever made), but nothing quite of that level. The best they can do is up the graphics, because if they change to much of the story elements there will be an uproar. So really...is updated graphics and voice over worth it? I think not. Leave a classic a classic.

One last title to wrap up the compilation (a full fledge RPG sequel I suppose) and put it to rest.

I'm a big fan of the last line Sephiroth says in Advent Children, and I think it was put there on purpose by the writers for the fans of the original game. They think the same as we do.

If there's one explanation to my wife and some friends for me sitting hours in front of the telly and fight similar monsters over and over and over just to get the characters levels up for that extra level or to ensure that their overdrive (limit break) gauges are full and ready for the next boss which makes no sence in appearance to the story line of the game itself, if would be the fact that I played and completed Final Fantasy VII.

In the end, I guess if Square wants to keep its FF series going with the next generation, either FFXIII and will have to be realy great, which I hope so, or they have no choice but to remake VII.

FF12 sucked? I strongly disagree. Sure the story wasnt great by any stretch of the imagination but FF12 is an innovator of semi turn based fighting (those who have played star wars kotor will know what im talking about), with gambits that dont make you curse your supporting characters and make it feel as though you're doin all the work, even though you are.

But enough of the off-topic jibber jabber i dont think Square enix needs to remake ff7 to stay popular with the following generation, they just need to stay faithful to the masses who fuel this franchise and although theres a huge demand for FF7 to be remade (my favourite FF) i dont think it quite equals those looking for a newer test rather than recycled memories of people who didnt actually love the game quite like us and who'll probably put the controller down half way and wonder exactly why they have to wait another two years to buy a new FF because Square Enix put the die hard FF7 fans before FF fans as a whole.

Eh, to each his own. While the combat was innovative (to me resembled XI, or any MMORPG, much more than KOTR), the story was terrible, and the characters were "bland" at best. Same directors/writers as Tactics, and I love that game, but like tactics the storyline was average at best. Ever since FF began they would have hit at least 2 out of those 3 points with regularity, and have since the very first one in my opinion, except of course XII. Even XI i thought covered all three. However, like you stated, wrong thread.

100% agree. Doesn't make sense to me either. More looking forward to seeing XIII, and VXIII then FF remake..... but I'm just a guy killing 15 minutes before its time to head home from work for the weekend. What do I know?

I duno tho.. see, I want to see a remake but im scared theyll end up f*ckin up a classic which would infuriate me to no end! Too many memories invested in it as well...

But on the other hand I need to buy a new version to play it again because mines broken which is a killer for when u just wana reminice. I guess i wana see a remake, but I also wana see the next FF, so hopefully the geniuses at Squeenix can work overtime and get me my fix
